hippynerd posted:I have both (widebody, and flatty), and i prefer flattys. With modz, the performance can be equal, correct? Though, as much as I would like to believe otherwise, I am not very likely to modify a car much outside of reliability issues so stock performance is an issue. Hopefully that will change this summer after I put my truck back together. Let's be honest though, any starquest will require some major modifications to be a really hot performing car. I confess, I just like the way it looks. You live in eugene, ya? What is it that you like about the flattys?

prettymuch any parts from a flatty can be put on a widebody car and vice versa, The earlier year cars have 4 lug wheels, later years have 5 lug. Later years also have the widebody style, and those cars came with wider wheels (either 7" front/8" rear, or the 88/89's came with 8" front 9" rear. Flattys have 6" wheels. Not all starions came with LSD, but all can be retro-fitted with one. The engines are exactly the same in all cars, 83's have 850cc alternating injectors, while newer models have a primary/secondary, 88/89's have bigger injectors, but you need the 88/89 ECU to run them. 86 ECU's can be modded to change the boost limit from 7psi to 10 (I still havnt gotten around to trying this). The difference between flattys and widebodies is prettymuch just the wheels and fenders. Now if you want to talk about mods, there are tons of them out there, but Megasquirt + MPI + Big honkin turbo seem to be what push these cars into the 400hp range. I currently own both a widebody, and a flatty, I can show you anything you want on them, but both are down for repairs at the moment I like my cars stock I even have stock radios. hippynerd fucked around with this message at 09:41 on Jun 11, 2009 |

I thought that the boost was controlled manually? The difference is also that you would have to do more than a little modification to the flatty to bring it near the spec of the last of the widebodies. The flatty engines made less power, right? To me its like saying the the camaro ss is the same as the rs. Funny enough, the radio would be the only thing that I feel comfortable about upgrading. I would lose those sweet-rear end steering wheel controls. I get down to eugene every once in a while, I'll let you know next time to see if you are available.
