For the first time today I tried to open Pinnacle Studio 11 on Windows 7 64bit. It doesn't give me any error message. It kinda thinks for a second and then nothing. When I open the task manager, I see a studio.exe process. I tried opening it in compatibility mode with the same results. Any ideas?

Try running it as an Administrator. It might be trying to populate some registry keys or touch a file in its install folder.

I hope this hasn't been answered before, and I searched google but maybe I'm asking the wrong questions. Can somebody tell me, what is the brown lock thing seen on some folders in windows 7? Looking in the properties I can see it has something to do with permissions, and it's attributes are hidden i guess? It's not a big problem, mostly it's just aesthetically displeasing.

Weird possible solution: When it's done "thinking," it's possible the window for Pinnacle Studio 11 is active, even though you can't see it and it doesn't show up on the taskbar. Press Alt + Space Bar, you'll get the same menu you get when you click in the upper-left corner of a window; select "minimize," and if you're lucky it'll actually properly minimize into the taskbar, and clicking on its minimized state will restore it properly.

I am having a problem installing. I had version 7000 previously installed , but something messed up so I just put Vista back on it. I am now trying to put version 7100 on. The computer reboots and gets to "completing Installation.." . Then it just sits there. I googled, and some people said to unplug all USB devices. I started the installation over again and tried that. No luck. ACHI was also mentioned. I am installing onto an IDE drive so I don't think that matters. Asus P5W DH Deluxe motherboard/E8400/4GB RAM. It installed fine before and I have had no system changes since then. Anyone have any ideas?

So, uh... How do I do anything with XP mode? It just opens what looks like a Remote Desktop connection to an XP system. How do I get the seamless thing working? When I look it up, it says just run something, and it adds it to my Win7 Start Menu. Well, it doesn't.

Ultimately, XP mode is so that non-intensive 16 bit apps can run seamlessly on 64 bit Windows so that corporations with old 16 bit stuff will finally go to 64 bit.

Does anyone know what the absolutely latest leaked build is? I upgraded to 7229 last night but I hear that 7232 just leaked and that the RTM build is about to leak. Can anyone offer any insight into this? All the leaks now are pre-RTM builds, and the beta/RC keys don't work on them. 7232 is supposedly what a lot of people have, and supposedly 7260 is the RTM build.

There's always the re-arming trick, but that's generally frowned upon around these parts, I believe. I suppose if you legitimely pre-ordered it, there's nothing especially ethically wrong, but without a license key, you're flirting a line I wouldn't cross.

As with the update to RC, in order to go to RTM you will probably have to alter the iso to get it to update your install. A search will provide you the steps necessary to accomplish this.

I've been having a weird problem of late, or I've noticed it lately. I have 4GB of ram and it seems that It fills up really fast and stays filled until a reboot. I can't firgure out what would do this. I only have firefox, NOD32, daemon-tools, running at any one time. This never happened in Vista, and I am running pretty much the same setup.
