I'm currently going through How I Met Your Mother. I just went through the first three seasons over the past two weeks and I'm currently tackling the fourth. It's a very binge friendly show, however I'd after to say the middle of the second half of the third season is a little slow and hard to watch.

It's really been one of my favorite shows thus far to binge through. You know it's good when the credits hit you out of nowhere like 5 episodes in a row.

BTW, the fight in 3x05 between Dority and Hearst's Captain is loving awesome.

I wouldn't call it "slow" it's just a different pace than what you're used to. (pretty much any drama on NBC/CBS) I remember watching the first few episodes just thinking "So wait... this is it? This is the best show ever? Uhh... ok..." But really you can't judge the show until the very end of Season 1 at least. The show has a very high replay value, and episodes/seasons just get better the more times you watch. If I were to give any advice on watching the show it's that the pilot should be watched immediately after seeing the season 1 finale.

I recently started going through the 24 seasons again. Just started season 2. It's quite funny in retrospect knowing how pretty much everyone in a given room is dead where the show currently is (season 7).

Aw hunny, these came out GREAT!
So, I just binged through all of Daria, and the same thing happened to me that happens to all cartoons (or shows in general really) when I watch the series finale. In this case, the movie "Is It College Yet?".

Perhaps it's just me, but after watching the series finale of a show that I love, especially if the finale is very very good, it leaves me in sort of a slump for a little while. I know it's just TV, but I actively feel downtrodden for a little while afterward since I know that there's never going to be any more episodes or adventures with these characters.

It especially rings true in Daria where the series finale actually sets up such an awesome premise of Daria and Jane in college, I could just imagine all the plot devices that they never got a chance to use. Of course, it would mean dismantling the main characters other than Daria and Jane, since they'd be away at college while other main characters like Quinn, Brittany, Kevin, Jody, etc etc would all be at other places. Still, it depresses me a bit that that's IT.

Ah well, there's always fanfiction.

The creators originally intended the finale to be the "Boxing Daria" episode. I loved it, but I'm also convinced they ended the show at just the right time. Now if only one could buy the complete DVD set and/or they would re air the original versions of the episodes instead of the wattered down versions that have been aired on some other channel (I don't live in USA and don't know the name of that channel).

The dvd will be released in 2010. They had major issues getting all the music licensed, but I'm guessing all the grunge artists are a little less picky about it now.

I can't remember who it was, but some goon's father was the head writer for the entire run of Daria. I always thought that was cool. He wound up working for The Colbert Report, I think.

Also, I loved Daria. There was a girl who went to my high school that was the spitting image of Quinn, down to the looks, the hair, and the vacuous tone of voice. It was downright eerie.

I've just begun watching in treament In Treatment it's pretty good so far. It does feel pretty episodic based on the patients though. Which brings me to a question for anyone else who has watched the show all the way through. Would it mess anything up or be a problem if I watch the episodes in order of the patients storylines instead of the normal order of the main characters week?

The problem I'm having right now is that I'll watch an episode and I'll be getting into their storyline and then the next episode will be a different patient and won't have anything to do with the one I just watched.

So what I'm asking is, for example, could I watch all of Melissa George's episodes back to back without spoiling any of the episodes from the other patients? And then when I get done with her storyline I can go back and watch all of Blair Underwood's storyline.

Would this work or would I end up getting spoiled?

I am now on the final stretch of the second season of Rescue me.
God drat, that was some great tv. I am amazed by how the writers managed to create tons of flawed characters and making me like each and everyone of them, without exception. Cheaters, homophobes, whiny wives... there is not a single one I don't care for some way or the other.

And jesus christ, Milena Govich (Candy/Danielle, Shea's escort/girl friend) is easily the hottest and cutest human being on the planet (hot and cute at the same time, those are the worst!).

Edit: Ok, Sheila's lover is the only one I don't like...

Aaand I am done with season 2. That was gutwrenching.
Poor Lou... but hey, that was way too good to be true. It smelled like a long con, but I was kind of hoping for his sake that they would not go down that road. Crazy cat lady also was to be expected, but Connor... drat.

Can't bring myself to start watching Six feet under right now, I don't think I could handle a massive onslaught of :emo: right now. On a scale from 1 to 10, how depressing is the show? I am guessing 12.

So it's back to comedy for me.
Currently rewatching Extras again (Ricky Gervais).
The episodes with Kate Winslet and Patrick Stewart are magnificient.

Especially Winslet is hilarious. I guess because she has never done comedy, at least not as far as I remember.
"Eternal Sunshine..." comes as close to "comedy" as it gets.

Andy Millman: "I think, you know, you doing this is so commendable - you know, using your profile to keep the message alive about the Holocaust."

Kate Winslet: "My God, I'm not doing it for that. And I don't think we really need another film about the Holocaust, do we? It's like, how many have there been? You know, we get it - it was grim, move on. No, I'm doing it because I've noticed that if you do a film about the Holocaust - guaranteed Oscar!"

Fun fact: When Extras was shot (2005), Winslet had been nominated for an Oscar once again (for "Eternal Sunshine..."). Merchant and Gervais were crossing their fingers for her NOT to win that year, because it would have killed the Winslet episode...

The outtakes from those two episodes are solid gold, too.

I had no idea that Patrick Stewart was a last minute addition to the series, since it appears Jude Law had jumped ship due to scheduling issues and Gervais and Merchant could not get in touch with Leonardo di Caprio ("Searching for Leo" is also in the DVDs extras...).
Thank god for Captain Picard.... "make it so!".

edit: Totally agree about Veronica Mars. The first two seasons were awesome, but Season 3 was kinda bleh. I still liked it cause it was Veronica Mars, but there was a definite dropoff. I loving hated the new guy she started dating too.

Interesting about the college thing. OTH tried to get around this by just skipping 4 years ahead, but I feel like it didn't work. The show is still alright, but not nearly as good as it was before. I still think it was a stupid idea, even given the college issue.

So far, I haven't really found it very depressing at all. I was kind of hoping it would be cause I've been in a "wallowing in misery mood" for a week or so. But, strangely, I'm not sad when I watch the show. There was a couple parts that are kind of sad, but there not really a focus of the show or main plot, just part that moves the story along or starts each episode. So, it doesn't tug at the heart strings like you'd think. Then again, maybe it does and I'm just early in the series so it hasn't found its stride yet.
