Seriously, can we get back to pre-gaming for a Fest that happened almost a year ago? Maybe someone should start a modern rock thread for the Used, Brand New, and Fall of Troy discussion since they certainly aren't punk, hardcore, or emo. Case in point:

^ I was thinking about posting that quote but than I realized that Your Favorite Weapon isn't THAT terrible and that Deja Entendu is pretty good although it might just be that I listened to it a lot in 8th and 9th grade and thus have various nostalgic feeling tied to it...

As much as I love Comadre, I with bands would give it a rest and stop covering Refused. I don't even like listening to Refused anymore these days.

Pretty sure brand new used to be pop punk or something very similar.

The Brand New thread maybe a good start.

Also the new Used is loving horrible. Their self-titled was their only decent album.

Devil and God is an awesome album

Also, Mariachi El Bronx dropped (finally) and it's actually The Bronx playing Mariachi music. In other words, it's awesome.

They are great. I started with Discharge and other UK punk bands, and then made the transition to hardcore with From Ashes Rise. Still one of my favorite bands. I'd recommend them to anyone interested in the genre. I guess Black Flag and Minor Threat and Bad Brains are always a good starting point too.

On another note, Dear Landlord is so loving awesome.

They only have one full length, United by Fate. It's good, you should check it out. Apparently they're currently working on a second album. If you're into it, you might also want to check out Quicksand, Walter Schreifels' previous band. He wrote the first CIV album and most of the Gorilla Biscuits stuff too. I haven't heard his most recent band, Walking Concert, but there's that also.

Agreed, I'm loving this Converge track, I think they've returned to their good form as they were with Jane Doe, for me No Heroes was good, and same with You Fail Me, but not as good as Jane Doe...
