You seem to building your computer for "speed" ... you know that's slower than a RAID 0 or 10 configuration, or even having plain regular un-raided drives, right? And another suggestion, with all that money you're putting INTO the computer, you should spend some to spend some money to upgrade what you're putting your computer ONTO (the desk).

Why would you need 2 such powerful cards? Its only needed for 2560 x 1600. I don't see a 30 inch display sitting at your computer......

I tried it aligned at the top, but it bothered me to no end the first day. 2nd day I put them like this and I really like it.

I have a Galant desk, and others in this thread have a Galant desk judging from the pictures. I've always maintained that the T-legs are the only way to go for the Galants, but a friend is buying a used Galant that is similar to this corner setup (it's just as long): http://www.flickr.com/photos/wardomatic/3876383777/in/set-72157622202428512/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/wardomatic/sets/72157622202428512/ Any Galant owners have any experience with an L-shaped layout with the 4-corner legs instead of the T-legs? Just seems like it would not be as sturdy.

I'm not 100% sure if it's actually a Galant but a friend of mine has a desk shaped like the one in that picture, and it's on T-legs - I think it's two T-legs on every side and he used to have a 17 or 19 inch CRT in the corner, so it certainly held that sturdily. It only started to bend when he climbed on it and was towards the outer edge. You could also prop the outer corner up with one single leg there. Come to think of it, two T-legs, i.e. two on every side of that L shape would meet up uncomfortably in the inner curve, i.e. you couldn't really sit there. Meh.

I have a galant with the corner legs... but it's not an L desk. The T-Leg setup was, $20 more I think? I think the corner legs look goofy, but i think they'd be MORE steady than the T-Leg (since the stance of the desk is wider). As Steakandchips said, my desk is sturdy as gently caress. No wobble at all, and I could probably jump up onto this thing without problems. EDIT: Quoting myself so as to include my picture syphon posted:

What's the difference between Galant and Vika that makes one about $250 and the other about $50 for a similarly sized desk? I need a desk and I'm cheap so I'm leaning toward Vika, but I don't want any nasty surprises when I could make a good solid investment in a good desk.

There are many possible combinations of both the Vika and Galant. Which are you looking at? If it's the two I'm linking below, then they're certainly not the same size. Also the Vika looks dumb, imo. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S19859096 http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S69807217

If you get it piece-by-piece (the top + 5 legs) the Vika is $70 for a 78" top, which is larger than the $250 galant you linked to. Oh, as a side question, does anyone know if you can mix and match legs and tabletops from other systems? Vika seems fine to me except the legs aren't adjustable height. Those legs pictured in the above link on the Vika suck rear end. Basically the Galant is built like a tank and that vika is built like a chinese made automobile. Using one to provide mid support on a long table would be OK, but it would suck rear end as a primary support method.

The Galant has real wood veneers; the Vika is just melamine foil and paint. The Vika also uses a combination of particleboard and fiberboard; the Galant doesn't use fiberboard.
