This is badass, and though i will always like DEP, usually their videos previewing it are far more interesting than their latest album itself.

New BTBAM is just too strange. I love the talent and the imagination but its really bewildering how those two attributes could come up with such pointless and meandering songs. You'd wonder how a band could continue to be their brutal ol selves after so long without changing toooo much but, oh yea, the new Red Chord kicks all sorts of rear end.

I might agree that the songs can be meandering but I don't think they're pointless. It's not as if it's random riff after random riff. They all tie themselves together really well, imo.

Later Death Metal stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNiTW-I7azI (love the opening, but it does drag on a little too long in my opinion)

I loved The Scars of Ages EP but everything else was totally forgettable IMO.

I guess I kind of agree with this - Bloodlust was pretty meh overall. Malice is alright, but it can get boring I guess.

Bloodlust has a couple decent tracks. Two Inches from a Main Artery and Bringer of Truth were rad I think.

Colors did really well with keeping a unifying musical theme throughout each song, and Alaska did so even more. It took me a while to really hear the completeness of every song in Colors, so I'm hoping the same will happen with their new album. As it stands now, it doesn't seem like it will.

Not bad. I love Daughters but I hate IWABO. I didn't like all the beep-bop-boop riffs when they were trying to be out of rhythm but it just sounded like punching guitars. But the beginning with the screaming was pretty decent.

You probably need to start/find a venue there first... it's kinda sad when everyone from London goes to St. Thomas for metal shows. It's hard to have a scene when there's nowhere for touring bands to play save for the Lions Hall!

Except that they're a lot better than daughters. And any band that lists such incredible influences can't be bad.

And if we're gonna list some good white belt grind bands then I gotta throw out tower of rome and graf orlock.

I've been to some shows at some smaller venues like Call the Office or some other place I forget the name of. Some fairly big names come through, but I know what you mean about the scene, it's sort of dead. But that's why I'm here, to give it some life!

So seriously, if you know anyone who wants to start a band of metal proportions...

Not bad, not all that good either. If I was at a show where you guys were opening I probably wouldn't pay too much attention except for during breakdowns. You sound pretty sloppy but you said it was your first show. Work on getting more tight and tell your singer to stop being E/N in the mic and just sing.

e: I see you have I Declare War on your top friends. Those guys are pretty good for some silly brutal heavy sloppy breakdown music every once in a while. But in their Influences section on their Myspace page they list all very current bands. Kind of makes me feel like they never listened to anything before getting introduced to metalcore music.

Yeah, I always figured influences was just a list of bands the band members happen to like. I wouldn't expect many people to take it super seriously.

And on the subject of I Declare War, they do have some really fun music, I especially love their Christmas mix.

I don't expect a band's Influences section to be taken super seriously. But I think if you take your music seriously whatsoever you should at least take 3 seconds to put down some bands that actually influence your passion for music and not who you think kids will read and say "hey I like those bands too, sweet!"

I always figured most of the bands I listen to don't really take themselves seriously at all :shobon: Otherwise the whole screaming about torture, murder, dismemberment, and making sweet, sweet love to pizza might be kinda awkward.

Wow, 10 seconds into this song and I'm digging it a loving LOT. It has some nice melodic riffs going on with a perfectly balanced amount of brutality. I love that 7A7P, Mis Sig mix of light airy sounding stuff mixed with the tough guy hardcore stuff. Reminds me of a band from FL that unfortunately broke up last year called I Am Divide. http://www.myspace.com/iamdivideisstillalive

And the first song that pops up is anti-religion. I'm in love.

Pretty sure we've talked to them before about trying to get a show booked out there for a tour. We got back a few weeks ago from doing a month tour around the US.

We have a few athiest songs. The first one on the page was really hard for us to write. The vocalist and I (guitar) have both had relatives die because they relied on "god" to heal cancer that was operable and would've kept them alive.

As Hope Dies is a pretty sweet atheist metalcore band from a few years back that broke up.

A band with friends of mine who are not really active right now but sound similar to Open Fire are Royalty In Exile https://www.myspace.com/royaltyinexilenyc they actually had the guitarist from 7a7p in their band but never found a bassist.

Another band who I'm friends with that some of BTBAM fans might like are We Are The Romans https://www.myspace.com/wearetheromans their recording isn't super tight but those guy really strive to play heavy music in a progressive and unique way. They bust their asses and even though the recording doesn't do him justice, the singer is a loving beast.

I've been looking for Athiest metal bands for a long time now. There seem to be very few or they at least go unnoticed due to the literal swarms of Christian-core or whatever you want to call it that's flooding the hollow minds of fifteen year olds everywhere. My roommate, although not fifteen, is very religious and I find him listening to songs with lyrics about punishing Athiests and loving Jesus.

edit: Maybe it's just that Athiests don't preach their message, or convey it as obviously?
