That's no further than I drove with a friend of mine (his truck, another friend's trailer) to pick up my $800 280z. Paid nearly 1/2 the cost of the car in gas!

Classic collecters car for sale. Pontiac is out of business. This car will be worth a lot of money in a couple years. It needs some TLC on the body but mechanically and electrically is solid. Interior is MINT!!! Very cheap buy do to the fact that I am moving to australia. It was bought as a project car and would be a great investment. 350 engine, hatchback, body work needed but not excessive, still has original rims and stereo system. Still has low kms too for its age. Please contact ASAP if interested. I will not take less than $2000.00 so please no lowballs.
A rusted out 88 TA is all of a sudden going to be a collectors item and worth BIG MONEY in a couple of years because Pontiac is done for.

Asking $2500, but will take $2000. Don't insult him with a lowball for this rare classic collectible.

Chrome Aston Martin V8 Vantage anyone? Only twice the usual price:

Auto Trader UK posted:

A chrome-wrapped Aston Martin V8 Vantage with a customised bodykit is for sale on Auto Trader.

The Aston by Boss Performance is based on a 2006 V8 Vantage which has undergone a host of cosmetic changes.

It features a new wing, side skirts and bumper along with a set of 20-inch alloy wheels which were designed specially in Japan for the Aston.

Inside, the V8 has a hand-crafted Nappa leather interior

Mechanically, the supercar remains unchanged meaning a 4.3-litre V8 engine developing 380bhp and 302lb/ft of pulling power.

This accelerates the Aston from 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 175mph. And don’t forget, this is a V8 Vantage so it has one of the most glorious exhaust sounds known to man.

This is the first modified model launched by Bury-based Boss Performance who traditionally specialise in luxury car sales.

The Aston, with 18,000 miles on the clock, is for sale for £97,995 – about £45,000 more than a standard V8 Vantage of the same age.

Boss will be following up the Aston with its modified Bentley Continental GT later this year.

If you have no money/trade down, it's not that different a deal, really.

$16700+10% (taxes and poo poo) at 6.8% (bankrate.com) = 438.19/mo * 48 months = $21,033.
That works out to paying an extra $45.77/mo. or $2197 total, to lease vs. buy.
Today's Autotrader Average value of a 4 year old XB? $10157.

Once you step outside thinking of a car as an asset (because it's not - it's a liability - c.f. paying $21,033 for something worth $10157), leasing begins to make sense, and has a few advantages over purchasing.
* You're always in a new car.
* Always under warranty.
* No sense of What The gently caress Is Going To Break Next On This Piece Of poo poo?
* Never buying Someone Else's Problem Child (i.e. Used)

...etc.

But the advantages all hinge on viewing it as "Car As A Service", not "Car As A Durable Good". We're AI residents, of COURSE we want to keep the car once it's paid off. So we can violate it with all manner of forced induction engine swap goodness. Since it's paid off and all...

Your logic misses the point entirely, that at the end of your installment loan, when you own the car outright, you have a good that you own. You can sell said good for $10,157...thus making your investment of $21,033 magically drop to $10,876 over the course of 4 years. Quite a big difference between that and $23k to rent it. Of course you have a lease purchase option at the end of the term, but then you are going to be shelling out even more cash for the same car (thus defeating the purpose of leasing you outlined above.

Edit: only a few pages behind, whoops. Forgot I was playing catch up...

I'd probably still take it even with tree damage for $200. Looks clean outside and in, even if the engine was totally hosed I have a 2.0L SPI in an Escort with a lovely exterior and finding a tranny to go with it wouldn't be too hard.
