Just because a few dozen people on some truck forum had it happen to them doesn't make it a common occurrence on an engine platform with installed numbers in the multiple millions. Yes, it's a known issue with some Mod engine platforms, but it's far from endemic to the family.

90's 4.6 and 5.4 are horrible. There are many reasons that spark plug threads take abuse, but these can't take ANY if you want them to last more than 100-150k mi. I've done several of these. The biggest cause of failure is that the person left them in there for 90k or more miles or until they went bad and caused misfires. They were replaced, probably by a moron without a torque wrench, a couple thousand miles later they pop.

Long story short, you need to baby the plugs way more than any other engine I've worked on. Even Kia/Hyundais can take more abuse, just from the simple fact that they have more than FOUR loving THREADS. The newer mod motors have gotten much better though, thank god.

I did the plugs in my beater Grand Marquis with 120k on the engine (the first engine exploded after the plastic intake cracked and blew a rod out the side of the block :v: Ford.), and I've done 3 other 90's panthers around or past 100k and never had any problem (other than always breaking at least one coilpack boot). The SOHC is pretty difficult to gently caress up unless you're really unlucky or have never seen aluminum before.

No car can give you the adrenaline rush quite like that of a failing chair. Although car-related adrenaline rushes don't usually make you angry.

At my workplace, we gave away 100 home depot brand Herman Miller knock offs a few months ago.

We usually use Herman Miller chairs, since they have a 10 year warranty, they come on site to service and repair chairs [usually adjustment knobs or broken arms] at no additional cost.

We had a boom period where we had to hire like 100 guys out of the blue and setup workstations. Work decided to save money and go for the office depot chairs*.

Half of which snapped in half with light use, things like the rivets and screws shearing off causing employees falling on their rear end or chairs falling apart.

And it's not hambeasts sitting on them, it's tiny asian women and thin guys.

We wound up replacing all the chairs with medium range Herman Millers.

I can't really justify dropping a grand on a chair, but I went and got the Costco $299 chair which is great for home use. Has the same warranty as well.

*-Home Depot passed the buck to the manufacturer who gave us a big finger claiming we abused them.

I've got one of those squarish chrome based swivel chairs with a manufacture year of 1978, upholstered in the finest brown Corinthian vinyl. Looks immaculate and is built like a tank, and cost me all of $15 at a thrift store.

My family has killed at least a half dozen Office Depot specials, and we aren't particularly heavy people, modern consumer furniture is just built like poo poo. I had to fight endlessly with my mom for over a year to get her to buy a well made desk, she wouldn't do it for the longest time despite having to replace the particle board poo poo from office supply stores every few months. Nevermind that buying the same thing over and over again quickly costs more than buying a quality product once.

Started building a new patio today. Effort came to a halt pretty quickly. We've had this trailer loaded WAY more in the past, but this must've been its day to fail.

Aw, poo poo!

Bit beyond hot glue and duct tape.

The tire is dry rotted and cracked, and not worth the prep to weld. No idea what happened to the two missing bolts.

$25 for a poorly matched wheel.

I'm kinda pissed Lowes doesn't stock proper spare parts for their trailers, but at least it fits on the axle, more or less, and seems to work. It's narrower and ruts like mad, though; cuts our load capacity in about half. I bought a matched wheel in case the mismatch would create problems, but it really doesn't seem to make a difference, so I'll probably just return the 2nd one. Somehow in the debacle of getting the one-wheeled cart back home, I lost the pin, too, DOH!

Closest is over an hour away; this wheel seems to be OK, even if it's not as good as the original. The cart itself is showing its age and I'm not sure how long the rest of it will last. We've completed most of our big projects we bought the cart for, so as long as it lasts the weekend, I'm happy.

It's similar to the screws for injection molding machines; this one pumps the plastic to a gear pump and out a die through a water trough to another machine.
