I'm a fan of a few of their songs, thanks to it being the background music on some AMV on YouTube or something. It's easy to listen to.

You guys should check out a metalcore band by the name of Alesana. They've released 2 albums so far with a 3rd coming out early next year and I have to say - It's good poo poo. Healthy balance between the girl-esque cries from Shawn Milke and the screams from Dennis.

The best part of Alesana is that on their MySpace one of the guys has obviously photoshopped on emo bangs.

How does everyone feel about Four Year Strong? I've been crushing their Rise Or Die Trying album the past few weeks. Probably the catchiest thing I've ever heard. Here's a couple of my favorites:

Abandon Ship or Abandon All Hope - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHKz86shOWo
(Anchor come and drag me down before I take a dive)

Maniac (R.O.D) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62ryw4Yv_TE
(I've always heard that the good die young! There's little time left to prove them wrong)

I wouldn't say they belong in this thread, because let's face it, it's pop-punk, but gently caress it - still such an awesome record. The intro to Heroes Get Remembered never fails to get me pumped. I think my favorite song is Men are From Mars, Women are From Hell, though. Looking very much forward to their next one, which is titled "Enemies of the World" if I remember correctly.

So, most of the bands that come out of Florida are boring and lovely, but I really love Malak. They're a bunch of cool guys and their songs are so beyond any other local tripe, both in technicality and musicianship. If you like BTBAM or other similar technical prog death metal check em out. "Carnal b) The Modification" and "Pragmataphobia" are both great tracks.

Goodbye Mona Lisa

Wish they'd been headlining, but that's what the spring tour is for!

Welp, it was minus 18 with the wind chill last night in London, Ontario, and if you've been keeping up-to-date on the transit situation in the city you would also know that the bus strike doesn't end until tomorrow. The Protest the Hero show was over a 45 minute walk away, so that's all that can be said about that.

And, to counteract all of these equally as welcome bands, one of my favs.

AND, on the same note as some of the more recent bands being added; a buddy of mine I jam with sometimes (we went to go to high school together) went an entirely different direction than what we played and sings for this band. Other than the fact that he stole some lines and song names from one of my bands (I think...), it's catchy for the kind of music it is. Haha.

edit: drrp.

edit: The new tracks are Nietzsche's Madness and Rules of Engagement. The others are from past albums.

So anyway I just got into this band No Consequence that kind of sounds like a mix between The Faceless and Architects that I thought I'd share. Really melodic tech-death sound with siiiiiiick guitar playing.

Also, Molotov Solution's new CD is pretty solid. If you dig Despised Icon or monstrously huge slam breakdowns you'll like it.

Only a couple solid songs on the new Molotov Solution CD imo. I preferred them more when kyle was still in the band

Yea I no the band on a personal basis. They are really good, definately one the the best local unsigned bands in Florida. They just got a contract with Relapse, they just have to find a bassist. But do not hesitate this band is very good. As mentioned above they're are in that similiar tech prog metal as Between the Buried and Me.

Listening to bands like this just puts a dumb grin on my face because you know it's meant to just dance really obnoxiously to. Sound a little like very early Bury Your Dead when they were actually decent.

The previously mentioned Dillinger preview was way too short to tell if the entire song was going to be good or not. I lost all faith in that band after Miss Machine was mostly a disappointment.
edit: Although this "Good Neighbor" song that someone posted a video of actually sounds very decent throughout. I'm becoming a little more optimistic. I guess I pretty much just want them to re-write Calculating Infinity and then I'll be happy.

And I've never listened to that band Molotov Solution before but in a way I guess I have, and they're already called White Chapel. Yawn.

Unfortunately White Chapel is bigger and that's who people, like me, who've never heard them before will compare them to. When your sound gets copied and commercialized, you either have to start doing it MUCH better, or just change it up.
