at least Busy P/whoever is running the ed banger twitter said it's NOT part of his upcoming album. Think it's some weird way to catch attention and the last part of threnody is pretty ok - http://toomanysebastians.blogspot.com/2010/01/sebastian-threnody-capt-and-cooked-edit.html edited a bit and spiced up. I'm sooo psyched for the new Justice album that's supposed to drop early 2010, I hope they can keep up the quality. And the thing I'm anticipating most is the new Does it offend you, yeah? album coming out in march, already bought tickets to see them in Munich around the time it's relased. Their first album is really great and after that: quote:Lead singer James Rushent co-produced The Prodigy's "Invaders Must Die" and their top five hit "Omen". If you don't know em yet, check out their stuff

Is a Wolfgang Gartner set worth a 3-hour roadtrip and ~$20?

I'm going to have to go with no. It was free and a 5 minute drive for me and I still didn't think it was really worth it. I guess if you're into Deadmau5 or similar DJs like that then it might be more worth it.

I'm shamelessly into Deadmau5, but he's about the only person from the "technobro" genre as I like to call it who I'm really into. I haven't heard much of Gartner's stuff, I'm just trying to see some of the "big names" I guess

A "technobro" is/are the guy/guys you see at shows like Deadmau5 or Tiesto who won't be able to talk to you about anything other than MDMA or various DJs they've seen "x" amount of times. If you hear anyone say in a "bro" like voice "oh yah man, I've seen Benny Bennasi like seven or eight times in the past month" then you're probably hearing a technobro. They wear clothes that are skin-tight and generally show off their muscle and "swagger" as much as they possibly can. Seriously, go to a Deadmau5 or Tiesto show and they will be EVERYWHERE.

basically anyone who defines their favorite genre as "bangin' house", "bangin' trance", or "bangin' electro" is best avoided, as well as the dude who comes up to me at gigs and tries to school me on a 4 year old track like he's in the know. seriously, gently caress that dude.

Actual conversation I had when I saw Deadmau5: - Yo dude, you know where I can get any rolls? - no. - mannn I wanna roll. I was gunna wait until Deadmau5 but this opening DJ is sick dude, you guys have some awesome locals - actually this guy's been touring with him for the entire tour, I don't think he's from around here. - oooh word *goes on to talk about how he went to Canada to see Armin Van Buren or Benny Bennasi or something. So anyway, cut to like 30 minutes later and I hear a familiar voice on the smoking deck say "yeah brah, this opening DJ is sick, it's like my fourth time seeing him." I know there is a recommendation thread but I'm hoping this place would be a better place to ask. I really like songs like : Daft Punk - Aerodynamic Beats / Gabrielle, Forget About the World Justice - Planisphere (Part 1 and 2) DatA - Blood Theme As well as Genesis and Stress from Justice. It's hard for me to describe why I like them but the songs have a "mood" to them that I really like. It feels dark and gritty. If I were to describe the feeling, pretend you're driving a really nice luxury car really fast at night with neon lights all around you. vv Any recommendations?

Haha no way, that SebastiAn track owns. Also to the dude who said "the last 2 minutes of it own" you are totally missing the point, the last 2 minutes are generic SebastiAn grindy banger bullshit. If the thought of a thousand rolling/tripping teenagers getting tired of holding their arms in the air and going "wtf" waiting for the beat to drop on this track doesn't bring a smile to your face you are probably the kind of dude who buys vip passes for multiple Deadmau6 and Daft Punk concerts and didn't even know what house was until after Pitchfork started hyping Cross. Bloghouse banger of 2010 imo (but the original song it samples,Penderecki's Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima, is still better)
