Yeah, I get your drift. Yet I didn't think it sounded that awful. Some of the melodies were pretty drat catchy.

I just don't believe it ought to be judged in the same way as Converge or BTBAM. It's fun music, that's all.

Musically, HORSE the Band is a polarizing act in most online metalcore communities, and it seems this one is no exception. However, even people who don't dig keyboard breakdowns can usually respect that these are funny dudes who don't mind laughing at themselves and bantering with their hecklers. They've definitely had some unique adventures, too, most notably booking their own sparingly promoted and largely uncompensated 45-country tour in 2008. Looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with for what should be a great Q & SA!

I admit that bands like "We Butter the Bread with Butter" and "I Wrestled a Bear Once" are retarded names for bands that actually suck. But I get a lot of poo poo in this thread for liking a band with a name that's only three words and isn't completely retarded sounding (Winds of Plague).

Right off the top of my head, Between the Buried and Me has a long name and they don't suck. Every Time I Die also. (even though both of these bands are far worse sounding currently than their first efforts)

Actually, Winds of Plague is a terrible name. But that's not the point.

I see what you're getting at and agree in a sense. The thing is when you hear a band with the name "We Butter the Bread with Butter" and "I Wrestled a Bear Once" you can pretty much assume nowadays what it's going to sound like.

HORSE is actually cool with Chiodos now for some reason. around 2005-2007 they had this hilarious little feud going on. It was more like HORSE just straight up trolling Chiodos for no reason. In that period, if you went to a HORSE show and threw a Chiodos shirt up on stage, they would take it and give you a free HORSE shirt.

I was merely saying that just because a band name is three words or less and doesn't sound completely retarded (Winds of Plague is generic and uninspired, yeah, but it isn't loving stupid beyond belief like We Butter the Bread With Butter) doesn't mean they're going to be any better sounding.

I was referring to the fact that people in this thread dislike WOP regardless of how long or dumb their band name is. So it shouldn't even be a factor in choosing whether to give a band a listen or not.

Well, in my opinion, the synth is the only good thing about that band. Otherwise their riffs are completely generic and uninspired, not to talk about their breakdowns.

My reasons to hate them are simple, they are overhyped, their new album is terrible (their first one was OK to me), and their singer is a utter douchebag who believes he's straight out of 8Miles.

Lately I've been digging Speak of the Devil pretty hard. Formaldehyde & Seek rocks so hard when you crank it up, these guys are too crazy! The guitars are doing some amazing stuff in what I consider to be a really tasteful, emotional way. The breakdowns are well placed and there is a considerable amount of bad rear end riffage.

Definitely worth giving a listen.

They weren't together for a while, most of the band left save the lead guitarist, the vocalist, and some other one I don't remember who. I've heard they're back together, playing shows and writing new material and what not, because someone from another band (I forget which one, some fan eh?) said so.

I haven't really checked into it too much because I'm afraid it might be a hoax. I guess we'll just see then.
