So many good funky house discoveries lately! A-Trak just posted this on his blog, Armand van Helden mix circa 1993. This is great poo poo, download it and bump it.

That's a cool mix, but it seems weird to call it funky house, cause that's just what house was like back then in ny.

It's about finding that next group of core players we can win with in the next 6, 8, 10 years. Let's face it, it's hard for 20-, 21-, 22-year-olds to lead an NHL team. Look at the playoffs.

For sure, I don't care at all - the Warehouse project is gaining some steam but still no releases yet. Lots of inquiries, though

If you like Warehouse type stuff, I'm doing a live show on Friday that's basically all disco like Warehouse (and my other disco tracks) mashed together live for about an hour. I'm nervous about recording it from Ableton but I might take the chance.

Sweet man, thanks. Also, record that poo poo, gently caress it! (you will be judged)

Okay, I need some recommendations here. I thought '09 was horrible because of the tribal house hype and I absolutely hated Sound Pellegrino, Renaissance Man, Deadfish and all that poo poo... About a week ago, I decided to check out the Saga Africa release after my roommate got me hooked on King Of Africa (although the best part is the bmorey part) and the entire vinyl blew me away, so now I'm looking for some tribal house tips. What I've liked so far includes
Saga Africa release (not so much Afro Maniok, though)
Malente & Dex feat. New Kidz - Lions (Douster Remix)
Daniel Haaksman - Pobum Coco (again, pretty much bmore with tribal stuff)

Probably not african enough but Zombie Disco Squad have put out a couple of good things last year that had some gratuitous use of african percussion.

Check out their track Eurovision (the link I had for it is dead :().. might not be what you're after but kinda cool anyway.

Saeed Younan, really well structured and mature but still sounds like gay sex in the bathroom. Yauda on Oosh and Tarazu on Viva are great. Black Candles by Balo & Bashar is pretty fun too.

I can't really recommend Gipsy by River 'n Sea because it's a tune that wouldn't work in most clubs but at an outdoor I have a feeling it'll do it's job.

As an informed music fan, I wouldn't want to use electronica in a sentence unless that sentence was "Electronica was a pretty retarded point in how major labels tried to ram everything with a boom tsk into one plain word and sell it off. You wouldn't put Spoon, Cat Stevens, Frank Zapper, and Buddy Holly into one genre?"

that being said, I hope the music labels can come out with something like Guitarica, so I can use it all the time to describe ZZ Top.

I dunno, I use "Electronica" to describe the genre as a whole. If someone knows what I'm talking about, I'll specify house or trance or dubstep or whatever.

And if it's a category in the Grammys that lumps Crystal Method, Lady Gaga, Pet Shop Boys, and LMFAO (none of which are related musically at all), I think Electronica's the right term...

Aside from getting shot in the head, David, what have you done with yourself?
Yeah, my only complaint with 09/17 2007 is the remixes. The Oliver $ remix is better than Riot Kid's, but not by a whole lot. So I guess the B side of my copy won't get any wear, when that arrives.

But the three originals are fantastic. 3h11 is great, but feels a little like filler; it lacks the intensity the others have. But 3h16, alone, is well worth it. One of my favorites, of what he's done, so far. A minor gripe with 4h30 is that the interlude is a bit too loud. When it gets to ~1:44, I've got to turn it down a little. Oh, well.
