You really think it might be worth more? I had a few offers for 5 or 600 and the highest I've had is one guy who would absolutely not go above $1k. I'd love to see it go to an AIer though, my baby deserves obsessive care.

Not even when new was it worth $8k+.

Edit: My bad, it had an MSRP of $11,405 when new.

It has 29 bids, and is currently over 8 Grand, so it is worth 8k+ to someone!

What's even better is that one appears to be a 70's designer car, found through some wikisperging :

"The Givenchy Edition was in aqua blue. The external finish was aqua blue "Diamond Fire" paint, with a white "Normande Grain" landau vinyl roof, black and white pinstriping, and white or aqua blue bodyside moldings. The interior was in aqua blue cloth or leather, and the instrument panel was in a special, lighter shade of simulated woodgrain. The Givenchy color was aqua blue in 1976, dark jade green in 1977 and 78, and crystal blue in 1979."

A 13B swap in a Corolla seems like itd be pretty awesome, I imagine a 12A would be a lot better than the stock Corolla engine in all ways but it seems pretty pointless to drop a 12A in when 13Bs are so readily available.

First of all, the cliche of "autotragic" is getting old. Second, it's pointless to go with a manual in a drag race (what this car is build for), because you'll just waste time shifting. A drag car does nothing but drive the exact same strip of a quarter of a mile every time, so the race is completely predictable, and the gearbox can hence be programmed to do optimal shifts that provide the best performance, every time, without risking human error. You don't even need that many gears because of the huge amounts of torque and short race.

Also, to not be discounted, is that automatics, when staged properly on the strip, will shock the drive train less on the launch because of the pre-load. This will typically result in less wear and tear.

One scenario where I can see it being somewhat understandable is when you have to repost an ad, which you've already written. CL let's you edit it, so the least amounnt of work you can do is edit the "I won't take less than this price." This way anyone who actually sees your ad gets a bit of psychological luring when they see the gap.

Yes, maybe it is akin to the infomercial-style "you would expect something this great to cost $X! But we're going to offer it to you for $Y!" It's not that anyone actually believes that it's worth the crazy inflated number they quote at the beginning, it's just that the real price seems smaller because of the comparison.
