I have no idea what their new singer, Omar sounds like over their original singer, Matt. But their music is pretty groovy and heavy. The bassist plays guitar in a band called Revenance who are also seriously heavy and awesome. Traitorous Leopard, you should check them out. http://www.myspace.com/revenance

I have definitely listened to a small portion of one of their songs before (the name clicked with me as soon as I had read it - I knew I heard it somewhere), but I never really gave them a full listen.

I've gotten really into Cephalic Carnage lately. They are super heavy, but what I love most is some of the completely insane, experimental interludes and riffs they do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7G14u64D-Sc&feature=related 2:12 is my fav part http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFVdSpt39OE

I've never heard Lower Definition before but I'm checking them out now and they sound pretty sweet. I'm definitely very upset with Straight Reads the Line breaking up. I saw them play all of The Author live last year and it was amazing! Only like 15 people at the show too. My plan is to catch atleast 3 of the shows on the goodbye tour this month! They're playing with a fairly decent band Kingdoms as well so they should be some good shows for sure.

I guess they closed the Live Show sub-forum. Anyway posting this here. Last night was the second time I had seen Between the Buried and Me play live while headlining. Both times I've seen them they have had fantastic openers and overall great bang for the buck show. Last time I saw them Behold... the Arctopus was opening and this time it was Scale the Summit, Cynic, and Devin Townsend Project. That all being said, BTBAM has the worst loving fans in all of existence. No other show that I've seen live has had so many people booing the openers and trying to heckle them. (Not even local bands, not that its in any way better or OK to do it but I've come to expect it when local talent is playing.) gently caress you and gently caress off.

I saw Straight Reads the Line a few years ago and they were really good, and then I saw them last year and they were just as good. I'll probably see them when they come to London this month on their breakup tour thing, I forget when it is. When I saw them the first time it was only about 15 people, too. Then again it was in Belleville, Ontario at a lovely bar, and the Holly Springs Disaster were supposed to headline.

Saw them live for the first time last week and with the exception of the lead guitar dropping out for like five minutes right at the beginning of the set, it was a loving sick show.

Both BTBAM shows I went to, the crowd was very respectful of the bands other than BTBAM even though last time there were five bands before BTBAM and most of them sucked balls (three Jacksonville local bands, Veil of Maya all sucked. Animals as Leaders was pretty cool.), there was only one or two guys actively heckling. The worst part was the windmills, spinkicks etc. for all the opening bands. I feel like that poo poo is heckling in dance form, personally, but I don't know what it's intended to be. speaking of BTBAM, The Great Misdirect has become rather disappointing, now that a substantial amount of time has passed, I just never feel like listening to any song from it except Disease, Injury, Madness

First you say that you felt the dancing for the opening bands was heckling, but then you admit they were all generic breakdown bands that attract this kind of dancing. Get your story straight, son. edit: Speaking of generic breakdown bands, I've been listening to Chelsea Grin a lot lately. They're painfully cliche but they're heavy and it's been helping me get out of a funk I've been in. Just makes me want to go to a show and ruin everyone's day.

Chelsea Grin suck. Personal opinion. And dancing and shows are two words that really shouldn't go together. Now THAT'S not rock and roll. I've been listening to some Brazen Bull recently, this grindcore-esque band. The vocalist is pretty intense for anyone who likes that kind of poo poo.

Not that I give a poo poo about credibility, but I saw Chelsea Grin headline a local show over Those Who Lie Beneath. Never heard either of them before. TWLB really impressed me, CG made me but jamming out to them is fun. And if not "dance" what word would you use?
