Did the Eagle use vacuum lines for engaging the front axle? Or was it mechanical? I remember early Jeeps used vacuums lines, and they would frequently break - that car looks like it'd be a lot of fun driving down some forest roads.

There were a total of 3 systems over the years. The original was permanent all-wheel-drive. I think the later switchable systems were both vacuum operated:

And once they broke you just said 'gently caress it' and crawled underneath the car, manually torqued over the bolt on the differential to engage 4WD and just left it. At least, that's what I did. Why drive an Eagle if it wasn't going to be in 4WD all the time :v:

That does look very clean, and it has the proper spoiler on it. Wish my boss hadn't jacked his XR4Ti up so much, I like those little buggers. :( He decided "I WANT A RACE CAR" so he took one of the XRs he owned and had the motor built to hell for roundy round racing. It's far beyond his needs or ability to actually drive it, and now he bitches all the time because it idles rough and it's hard to drive on the street.

He has to take a back up car to races because the Merkur breaks down within a few laps, usually blowing a rocker arm off. He's got probably 50 or 60k into this car, including having a somewhat famous tuner and custom guy rebuild the engine. Also it has a Sierra Cosworth rip-off whale tail spoiler on it.

I really doubt it.
My uncle had an XK back in the 70s and it was an utter piece of poo poo. Even though I like the look of them still, because of his frustration with it (he still talks about it 35 years later) I don't think I could wish that upon anyone.

If it's a truck, IH made it first, seriously. Those Wagonmasters are basically a Travelall with the back made into a truck bed. Check it, the bed is not separate like a pickup's bed would be. Why would you buy this instead of an International pickup crew cab with a shortbed? I have no idea. Neither did the buying public apparently because the Wagonmasters are incredibly rare. They sold these with the idea of towing/caravaning, but the shortbed crew cabs are actually better towing platforms from what I hear. There was also longbed crew cabs, and you could get any of them (including the wagonmaster) from a 1/2 ton rating on up.

Other than it being about $1000 above market value, what is so outrageous about a car that has been driven 174k miles? Anecdotal Insanity: My car has 156k miles on the odo and runs better than most cars on the road.

Uh, well when suggested KBB retail value is $840, I'd say it's more than $1,000 above market value... :pwn: ... and $2,500 for a very undesirable car with "grey area" reliability with that many miles on the clock is just :psyduck:. Nothing outrageous about high mileage cars, but high mileage cars priced that way, ESPECIALLY when they didn't get particularly good gas mileage, had next to no power, and most people would be embarrassed to be seen in one is out of the ordinary.

Not sure about that but I know Ford created a number of experimental Tempos with get this...a straight 8 cylinder engine. That would be eight pistons, all in a row, with the transmission seperating four from four.
