I have a question about bases!

If I'm using cut up cork tile (like all the cool kids), how do you get miniatures to stay securely attached to it? If you just glue them, surely they'll pretty easily come off during tabletop play?

Pin through to the base?

Apr 29, 2009

Ah, phooey!
I would at least pin one foot to secure it to the cork but I've been able to glue the other foot of my dreadnought to the cork fine with just superglue. The cork is also pretty secure to the base and I'm pretty sure it will rip before it comes off from the gluing point. Point is, Don't worry about supergluing it, it should be okay.

Actually I was about to just ask for a link to your thread, went to check the OP to make sure you hadn't linked it there instead, and there it was. You should be grateful that I'm doing you a favor. :haw:

The only reason I haven't sent you the money (or the model) for my commission is because I'm waiting for the new Blood Angels codex to come out, my apologies if I forgot to post that in the thread. :ohdear: But yes I'm hoping to buy some basing material.

In my spare time I'm thinking of trying my hand at painting different chapters on my AoBR marines. Gimme some suggestions:

So far I'm thinking of doing:

Blood Angels
Space Sharks
Flesh Tearers
Lamenters
Iron Knights
Novamarines
Mortifactors

Depending on what I like the most I'll probably do the whole set that way.

Thoughts?

Novamarines or White Scars would own.

Edit: poo poo you caught me, I edited the snark out since we'd had enough for one day.

But ya any of those you mentioned are cool.

I was actually thinking that the Space Sharks would be so similar to my Space Wolves that they really don't need to be done.

I'm definitely doing Blood Angels, Novamarines, and Iron Knights though. Not sure about White Scars. I don't think I've ever really tried to do solid white. . .

The secret to saving hobby money is to realize that you are being charged out the rear end for materials that are readily available in some other part of your life. That anyone would spend money on sheet plasticard is pretty much laughable given how many things we buy are packaged in it.

Try using used up dryer sheets for camo netting, for instance. It does a phenomenal job when painted a drab colour and spattered with mud, etc.
