Hey just wondering if anyone else lives in a city that still tries to have a rave scene like we had from the mid 90's through the early 2000s?

There's one in ottawa and its AMAZINGLY laughable.

There's still a hell of a lot of people in their mid 30's here in LA that try to do that poo poo... If you've ever heard of Burning Man, it's sort of the same crowd

and it's AMAZINGLY laughable

^ I LOLed at "if you've heard of Burning Man"... my mom's 80 year old friend from church has been to Burning Man... No offense bro but between this and your extreme cluelessness when it comes to recognizing major djs in the Essential Mix thread it might be better to start googling things you haven't heard of yet before assuming they're at all obscure

People still hella play happycore, gabber, hardstyle, trance, jungle, all that poo poo at the 'all ages dance parties' in Seattle and there's at least one big one every month, tho most of them are about as underground as a satellite it's definitely got what I would call a 'ravey vibe' (granted I only started partying in 2003-2004 when the scene was officially 'already dead' if you ask the old heads) Of course it's not gonna be the same as 'back in the day' but the drugs are good and the beats are loud and there are 14 year old girls are running around in giant rainbow brite pants and star pasties asking people if they want a light show, so if it quacks like a rave... I usually go to the 'Burner' parties and stuff myself that tend to have better music and an older crowd and those people scoff when you say the word 'rave'. There's also still outdoor renegades and warehouse parties, sometimes every weekend during the summer, that are much more underground with map points and call-for-directions-the-night-of but there's a lot less kandi at those and more house, west coast breaks, psytrance, or dubstep than oldschool 'rave music' or hardcore.

I've met a lot of crazy Venice people in their thirties that are pretty cracked out and still try to put on shows like they went to in the 90's. It's the same group of people that go to the burning man festival... what part of this is confusing?

burning man attracts a much more diverse audience than that. it's not just a bunch of venice beach crazies trying to relive their high times.

and like etard said, your "if you've ever heard of burning man" comment was pretty funny

that's like saying HARD shows attract a much more diverse audience than 18 year old white kids rolling balls. It's a generalization, but it's mostly true

edit: etard, what are you talking about? I didn't recognize John "00" Fleming, so that makes me not know anything about DJ's? wow

I think the whole point was more like raves that etard mention with the oldschool rave dress style and happy hardcore/gabber era music.
