I don't have a handshake yet, but I have an IMO who is going to bat for me on an assignment he's in charge of staffing, and a post that really wants me there. I've been told unless a tandem swoops through it's a done deal.

Wife and I decided that if I were ever going to do an unaccompanied assignment, now was the time, since the impact on the family would be minimized. I'm not at all keen on a year apart, but we can at least avoid having to do so later at a more inconvenient time. Plus, there were plenty of reasons to go, not the least of which was the sense that it was pretty much my turn. :patriot:

Well as I said no handshake, it's too early. Whatever is as close to a handshake without being a handshake is what it is.

Who knows. Some of those old time communicators are weird dudes. Insisting on having his own office in a building nobody else used anymore kind of fits a certain stereotype.

Just got my Medical Clearance. The Security Investigator is coming to town next week. I am excited for him to knock on the door of my incredibly shady neighbor with the thick Brooklyn accent who doesn't like to talk about his past or his job.

Also, in reconstructing any foreign trips over the last 10 years, I'm hoping they don't take my listing of locations like "the apartment of a random guy from Rome's train station" or "a hotel in the red light district of Amsterdam" as enormous red flags.

I dunno if the investigator asked you to do it already or not, but mine wanted me to have a list of every foreign trip/residence abroad in chronological order, separate from the SF-86. He went through my passports (have had to have two replaced, water damage under differing circumstances :argh: ) and checked every single entry/exit date. Would have taken a lot longer if he hadn't asked for the list in advance. That wasn't even for a TS.

Yep, thats what my guy wants too. I did the stereotypical yuppie-scumbag backpacking trip with some friends after I graduated from college, which just fits into the 10-year lookback period he wants me to document, and I have absolutely NO idea where we stayed for 95% of the trip. I have the contact information for my travelling companions, and he seems to think that should be enough.

Get ahold of them and see where they are and make sure the info is current, you can count on them getting a visit.

Also I got multiple emails from my case manager saying they had a guy in the country I lived in for awhile looking for my address and couldn't find it, so that might be fair game too. (although all it took was 2 words in google to find it :v: )

I passed all 3 sections, for a 5.5 total (POL). With vet pref that will put me to 5.67. I'll crosspost a little mini-recap after I draft one for the yahoo list.
