This is a weird thing to wonder about, I know, but at some point either before or after the Mac Classic appears in Jerry's apartment, there's a thing on his desk that looks like a flat slab propped upright, like a flatscreen with speakers on either side. Is it a computer? Every time I saw it, it would distract the hell out of me.

They had to stop the audience from going nuts when Kramer makes his appearance because it was distracting. Listen for it, it happens in earlier seasons but then disappears in later ones.

Michael Richards ended up hurting himself in a lot of takes that were used, as he almost never broke character. In "The Parking Garage" he carries around a real air conditioner and busts his lip putting it in the car. In "The Glasses" he bruises a rib running over to save another air conditioner (weird). In "The Maestro" he hurts a woman climbing over her with his cafe latte in the theater and I wouldn't say she breaks character, but her character wasn't supposed to act hurt. Michael Richards of course stayed in character. That guy's a pro.

Richards gets seriously pissed off at Julia flubbing lines and laughing in some of the outtakes and frequently opted to not go out with the cast. At first glance he just seems like an rear end in a top hat but he really, really takes the Kramer character seriously. It's actually a real shame his career couldn't really go anywhere and the comedy club incident was unbelievably tragic, but poking fun at it in 7x10 of Curb really redeemed it. I was in the studio audience for Friends in their 2001 season (Season 8 Episode 11, now that I look it up). They have a stand-up comedian who does crowd warm-up in between shots. The whole process of shooting an episode took from around 12:30pm to about 10:30pm, they gave us pizza in the middle. Each scene is done many many times, they tell you "laugh like you did the first time!", which isn't always easy. I imagine Seinfeld was the same way, whenever you hear that hysterical laughter with a bit of a scream to it (like George telling the golf ball story), it was most likely the first take. He talks about Kramer as if he were playing Hamlet or something. It's actually pretty funny. But yeah, he takes it really seriously.

He definitely handled it the wrong way but I never once thought of him as a racist for doing it, I just saw him as someone who loving hates to be heckled. Speaking of heckled: "Boo! Hiss!" Can't find a clip of it, but Kramer's girlfriend heckling Jerry in "The Fire". Gold.

Seinfeld is the air that I breath. I can have entire hour long conversations with some of my friends using solely Seinfeld quotes. Curb Your Enthusiasm, on the other hand, makes me cringe. I simply hate that show. I don't really get it when people praise it as a successor to Seinfeld. I never got past the second season, it was too painful to watch.

In my life, I've only ever seen maybe three episodes tops. It just never clicked with me until after seeing and loving Curb. This thread has inspired me to watch Seinfeld, so I just picked up the volume with seasons 1 and 2. Envy my journey. Envy it.
