NMM tends to look best on single models or pre-posed groups (ie, dioramas) viewed from a particular angle. Photographs of it often look better than it does in person, especially if you actually put a bunch on the table and start moving them around together. As was said, its an art technique, and it works fine where you can effectively predict or control the viewing angle or setting.

Most of this applies to that CHROOOOOOME NMM stuff done above, a lot of people do a more subtle and non-reflective version using greys and whites that has less issues with directionality and poo poo. I think I posted a bunch of nice NMM stuff at some point, but I am too lazy to find it!

If you're ordering anything from forgeworld any time soon, for £18 you can get a pair of warhound titans, they're just not available through browsing, you've got to search for 'warhound' or whatever and they're in the search results. I plan on picking up a pair of them at some point in the not too distant future but right now I'm focusing on mr OOP :)

If someone buys those Forgeworld minititans, please take pictures of the bits and stuff unassembled when you get them. I'm tempted to grab some but there's no good quality images online to gauge whether they're worth it.

While the model is kinda fugly, the paint job is the best marble I've seen

how the gently caress do you do that?

Very very thin paint built up over a couple of layers with varied pressure on the brush strokes

Marble's not too hard to do, the trick is to paint the underlying base color normally, then build up the striations on top and glaze with the base color

For polished marble, add 3 or 4 coats of gloss varnish on top

edit: and that statue isn't really marble, it's striated granite

Heavily corroded bronze will be easier to do as marble is hard to pull off. But I agree the thing needs to be way overgrown with ivy and moss.
