I've diluted the first layer before and have had that peeling thing happen to me. WTF? I only did it as a change of pace cause everyone was doing it. So yeah, what's with everyone diluting their PVA at all?

Mine gets diluted a little bit, just because I use a wet brush to spread it on the base. All I usually do is put glue directly on the base, brush it around, cover with sand, and then when it's dry soak it in Devlan Mud and drybrush bleached bone. I mostly leave my space barbies sitting on my desk, which is probably how I can get away with not fixing the sand on there better, but it works for me.

I suppose I dilute it a little because I wash my brush between bases.

I had glue-peeling issues when I tried using white glue, but since I started using tacky craft glue it hasn't been an issue. I have just been doing the blue/sand/diluted glue method.

Gravitas Shortfall posted:First question; why are you priming white? Out of the colors you've chosen, only the yellow is going to have problems going over black, and the dark undercoat will be more forgiving of mistakes when you're just starting out. Thanks, I'll give that a shot. Picked up some black gesso yesterday at Michael's. Should I thin it down before using it or is it fine at full thickness?

I finally got my first Grey Hunter painted! Other than a few HQ units I've hardly painted a drat thing in my army because I suck as batch painting. C&C before I go and paint 199 more of these buggers in the same way?

Everything except the bolter, base, and backpack is a Warmachine piece (Cygnar Warcaster Kara Sloan). e: and the little skullcross bit, not sure where that's from, I'm not really up on my GW character bling.

Add a drop or two of dishwashing liquid to some PVA glue and gently stir through. This breaks the surface tension of the glue, making it easier to spread around. It might also help with your peeling problem.

A lot of the top painters around (Sebastian Archer et al) like to use regular miliput mixed with water and painted on to fill the imperfection in a model and then sand it back so it is smooth. Not particularly; maybe weapons and stones and such. Basically I just wanted something like Green Stuff but more sort of rigid, that holds an edge better.

I plan on doing the undercoat lime green and then purple armor plates, so it'll crackle with green coming out, but that may not look too sharp. So I dunno yet really. I'll snap some photos to show where I am because I don't know what I'm doing with the big metal legs yet. I wanted to do them rust but it looks lovely (literally).

Soul Grinder time! I'm not posting the sword close up as a "LOOK AT THE DETAIL" but to ask if it looks alright. http://lh6.ggpht.com/_A5atwrrOFDY/TBufAbDJfII/AAAAAAAAI5E/xaa-CCS09xk/s800/DSC_0016.JPG I really didn't get the rust to show in the claw arm above, but it's really brown. I may sponge some chainmail on it but I'm not sure if that's how I want to go with all the legs. Here's a test of the legs. It's more brown in person, with the flash it looks orange and much better, so I'll stipple some orange on it later if I can. I just don't know if I like the overall effect and if it ties into the rest of my paint scheme. Should I go with it? Oh and here's a trygon for MY WIFE'S army I have a lot of edging to do on the armor plates, but it's very crazy to paint so far. ROYGBIV is making me blind.
