Does anyone know what this venue is like? I was thinking about trudging up to SF to see this show but I have no idea what the place is like. But seriously 15 and change to see A-Trak alone would be worth it. Looks fun.

Awww man, who would've guessed A-Track would play another hip hop show? Who cares about the venue, PBW and J-rocc are playing! PBW will drop the deepest breaks on you. The crappier the venue is, the better show it'll be!

I use filters on pretty much everything. Autofilter came into the mix when I was planning my live set - I wanted to keep everything Ableton-only as far as plugins go to save on CPU, so I kind of made everything work. Then when I started producing in Ableton, I knew the plugs so well that I just continued using it. Plus, autofilter does what I had to do by hand 6 years ago automatically. Its pretty awesome in that respect.

I could tell it was autofilter because you used that tempo-synced sawtooth LFO which I discovered too and which I think is just the coolest sounding thing ever. If I ever did a live set, it would just consist of me turning that on and off and changing the speed for an hour. I even named my contribution to "Short Music for People with ADD" after it:

Some kid I go to College with has apparently managed to somehow secure Benny Benassi, Steve Aoki, and MSTRKRFT to DJ an event in March. I don't understand how, but I'm not going to ask questions. I don't get how he plans on doing this (and I wish his taste in DJs didn't suck) but hopefully this pans out and I get free admission to a (hopefully) good electronic event.

Shut up dude no one cares, this whole thread has been devoted to proving how many times we've been out to see shows anyway to like disprove the goon stereotype, and no one really cares what your particular opinions on producers are anyway because you have literally nothing interesting to contribute to the conversation right now. This also applies to so many people: no one cares if all you're gonna do is come in here and act hard because you saw deadmau5 at a "rave" or like you have a black friend or something

Anyways, to contribute, which will probably discredit my above post because it will make me look insincere, this track would really blow it up if it had a good edit (check 2:50):

I don't know why you're pointing out that they're producers, because regardless of your opinion of them as DJs, they are really in demand and tickets to this event would fetch a lot of money.

Seems like most DJs/artists whatever around here use Ableton. I've used both it and Reason and can't really commit to either. Ableton is king for samples and sequencing, but Reason seems better for constructing the base sounds. I know Reason's instruments can be chained into Ableton and have done so, but you lose out on being able to sequence all the dials and subtracks and so on, and it's a pain to deal with the two program setup.

edit: Probably should have posted in the musician lounge... I never post around these parts.

I have an Axiom and it's buttons and sliders can be used to gently caress around with all the synth stuff from Reason, even when it's rewired through Ableton. And even without it, it's really not THAT much of a hassle..

They're a lot of fun live, a bunch of my friends and I have caught them them every time they've come through NYC, but it's starting to get old after they've played 5 shows with the same exact setlist. It's about time for them to settle down and put out a new album. I kinda like this Steed Lord remix of Little Secrets, it may or may not have been originally posted in this thread?

that was an unfortunate conflict, but holy poo poo, soulwax was unreal. is there anybody more on their game than the dewaeles in electronic music at this point in time? they didn't even need to rely on their old hat robot rock/phantom pt. II/get innocuous renditions to put on a great show. in addition to we love animals, another excuse, e talking, miserable girl, and that 'discotheque theme' track they did as samantha fu, i'm pretty sure they played all new material, including a hot-as-gently caress 10+ minute disco jam-out at the end. best set of the night
