That Thunderbird is a steal, Painter you should jump on that, at the worst you could put stock wheels/hubcaps on it and flip it for profit. My dream convertible is an old Thunderbird, someday.

Were I to guess: The T-bird's heyday was a good 10-15 years earlier than the cars that people are crazy for now. Between the peak of classic-T-bird prices and the release of the most recent abomination to wear the name, the ratio of automotive-toy/adult-diaper spending among the population that was driving up the prices has shifted, while the peak that supported those prices has moved to those who coveted late-60s/early-70s muscle, and didn't/don't give much of a poo poo about earlier or contemporary T-birds. Am I imagining things, or have the early 70s cars crept up in price lately? Like they didn't used to be up there with the late 60s, but now they are.

Probably because the muscle cars command the most, seems like most "luxury" cars from the late 60's early 70's don't do nearly as well. The Thunderbirds are a great example of this and are really an affordable classic. Although the convertibles don't go cheap. Every other loving Thunderbird rolling off the line in 1978 was a special edition of some sort or another. It's like the 1982 Buick Skylark "Limited" my mother had when we was childrens growing up. Limited to what? Hopefully they limited the number they shat out, cause they were all junk. That said, I think a 78 Bird can be a pretty cool car.

Yeah my uncle had the Cougar version and it was pretty cool, but if you've ever seen one of these cars these days holy poo poo are they horrible, the interiors are almost always disintegrating no matter how good the owner took care of it. They really have no redeeming qualities other than if you're into the boxy styling. That DIAMOND JUBILEE shitbox is maybe worth 3 grand tops, that guy is in for a harsh dose of reality.

Wasn;t the '82 Skylark built on the Nova platform? I seem to recall most of them had frame alignment issues...When I'd follow one, it was always crabbing sideways down the road. Even new ones. Noticed it with the Buick Apollo and Pontiac Whateveritwas as well. --- I had an '86 Escort. "L". I felt very special. I could tote whole sheets of drywall with it, though. As tempting as that T-Bird is, I'm saving up for a rebuild on my 389 in a couple of months (project thread hilarity ahoy). Also got a kid starting college in a year, so...
