Have you ever shopped for furniture? Its either terrible cheap walmart crap, real expensive hardwood that will cost more than $300 or the in between option, which is what ikea tries to be. If you're price-sensitive, just Craigslist it. There is a thick market for IKEA products almost anywhere worth living. As far as I'm concerned, most IKEA furniture is in one of two states: good enough or broken.

Only get the T-legs, and as said, they are sturdy as gently caress, thanks to the solid steel frame that the wood top sits on. Plenty of cheap-rear end desks are literally the wood and then the legs. Galant has a nice steel frame that is not going to move on you.

Not looking forward to the day the wife wants to get around to replacing/decorating the computer room. She wants some goddamn massive wood monstrosity with a hutch on top to boot, and likely a cabinet spot for maximum computer overheating. Good luck finding a hutch that can handle dual 22-24" widescreen monitors, honey!

It was really fancy. At some point I got a monstrous 19" CRT monitor, and it just did not work very well. A 17" LCD worked best. Now I use a Galant and I can't ever imagine owning another kind of desk. Why the hell do people want hutches and poo poo that take up precious monitor room? You can look rich and fancy without all of that poo poo. Also: Galant is worth more than it costs. Man up.

Does Ikea sell the screws for the Gallant or anything? I have a Gallant, but lost the bag of screws for it (also a bad scratch, but oh well). This is an old desk and the screws got lost in the process of a move, so it's not like I have the receipt, just a pile of wood and steel.  vv I just hope that they don't care that I seemed to lost everything, and don't have a reciept, ha. There are half round and quarter round for the other sides are size specific.

I didn't realize until a few weeks in/it was too late that they were a big too tall for me. If only the Galant T-Legs were compatible (side note: can they be made to fit?), I wouldn't feel like I was in grade school when I sat down at my desk and could salvage at least my tabletops.

The shelf I know I have seen involves a pair of aluminum legs that run at a 45 degree angle that you bolt to the desk and add a shelf too. I just linked to those capita legs right above you, and the type of desk is a non issue since it is just hardware. You could use them on any desk if you wanted. Most of the capita stuff is still used in the kitchen section, so they are still available. I was using capita legs for my old AV stand since the same kind of feet purchased online were 60 bucks instead of 12.
