If I spent 25 grand on a 23-year-old car I'd expect a 911 turbo.

This is a very old Pontiac Firebird that's never run. Even assuming it's in perfect condition, it's still just a mullet on wheels.

These are my favorite TA's (other than the turbo) they ever made, but I really like this bodystyle and the turbo uses it as well so whatever. I'd rather have a 350, but mostly because they're so easy to work on other than under the cowl.

$2500 obo

It's on 22's with a ragtop, a wood grain wheel, and air bag suspension.
It runs great and strong with a 351 Winslow Engine, new carburetor, alternator, and ball bearings.
Has great speed, but needs minor cosmetic work.
Needs new top, passenger window, windshield wipers, and has a few scratches on the body.

It's a great slab! Project car that will guarantee you to shut down the scene.
The damage done really isn't anything major, but its a great fixer upper.

Need to sell ASAP!

Hi.

Granted the some of the cosmetics aren't my taste in any stretch of the imagination, the mechincals do seem sound, and these are some of the lightest of the K platform, so there is little doubt in my mind this car can scoot and GASP handle the twisties well.

But anyone doing work like this to a Turbo Mopar who thinks they can get ANYWHERE near what the put into it is a moron.

Automotive Inanity, if anything. The Turbo I and II barely cracked 150hp. A Shelby Turbo II was a bit more since they found an intercooler somewhere. Turbo IIIs are a different matter entirely. The Shelby CSX wasn't fast, the VNT wasn't fast, the GLH wasn't fast. The non-intercooled ones were set up like superchargers with the throttle body before the turbo which makes swapping to an intercooler a bit more interesting.

Turbo I was ~150.
Turbo II was 175. All Turbo IIs were intercooled. Shelby badge had nothing to do with it.

Tweaking the boost and premimum fuel on a T2 will get you to 200 easy.

There were a couple of variations on the T1 as well, so swapping a later T1 (after '87ish) to intercooled is actually very simple.

Dropping off a family friend, I saw this on the roadside and swung back to take a look:

'89 Corolla GT-S with 183k mi, 50k since the timing belt and clutch were done. Body is straight, doesn't seem to be any rust, just really oxidized paint, which you can make out from my very dark picture. Reasonably clean cloth interior, the manual tranny option. The rear bumper was tweaked some years ago, according to the seller. He also said everything worked and he only stopped using it as a work vehicle a few days ago. He seemed honest, and insisted that I come drive it to check it out and inspect everything, which is a positive sign.
Since I don't live down in Carrboro, NC, I can't really act on it. But it seems like a reasonable deal for what it was. The sign said $1700, but over the phone he said $1500 cash. PM me for the number if you're interested.

People do get nutty about Corvettes, don't they?

Here's some gems from the Oregon area:

Either this guy has been trying off and on again to sell this car for the past few months, or this is the third guy to try and sell the same car with the same bad paint and the same missing bumpers:

1974 Corvette Stingray MUST SEE - $5000 (Tualatin)
Date: 2010-11-28, 8:29PM PST

Have you ever dreamed owning a classic red 1974 Corvette Stingray? This is your chance. This project car needs your time and love to finish restoring. It has 88,XXX original miles, new calipers, carburetor, wheels, plugs, wires, and battery. Has been mechanically gone through by Les Schwab and they found nothing that needs to be fixed. Have new windshield wiper motor needs to be installed. Needs rear and front bumper covers. This car with some cash and tlc will be gorgeous when finished!

Recap....

Pros:
350 small block (88,XXX original miles)
750 double pump carb (almost new)
Recent tune up
Great body
Runs and drives
Brand new battery
New calipers and brake pads on all 4 wheels
New rims

Cons:
Needs new front and back bumper covers
Needs new interior (Has all the original interior)
Needs the windshield wiper motor installed

Overall a great running car. Needs a bit of work but its worth it. I want a car thats good on gas and has a bit of style. I'll look at all trades but cash takes all. I'm looking for something like a 3rd gen rx7, rx8, s2000 and others, I have a bit of cash to put on top if its over. My number is 503-989-0901. I also check my email many times a day, you can text me and send me pics of the cars. Thanks

That car is made to impress people who don't really know what that trim level even means.

I'm similarly puzzled by those fake brake rotors you can stick behind your hubcaps to make it look like you have disc brakes. If you care enough about cars to know about rotors and such, you can instantly see they're fake. If you don't care much about cars, you wouldn't even know what it was supposed to be imitating, and couldn't possibly be impressed.
