Can't believe this slipped past me, but PNAU's new album is apparently called 'Soft Universe'. Here's a preview of 'The Truth': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYOX0wza_qk And the Sam La More remix preview, which has a bit more substance: http://soundcloud.com/samlamore/pnau-the-truth-sam-la-more-remix-preview They've got a spot booked for BDO 2011, so I'm willing to bet the album comes out between now and then.

So my friend Lee joined my blog and posted this really badass house mix by Go Go Bizkit for his debut. I really think y'all should give it a listen. He's also one half of an up and coming House Duo by the name of "Verlan". Check 'em out!

Yeah so Pryda's new EP is stunning. Not that I really expected anything else. Illusions is one HELL of a track. Now if only we got some more Cirez D. It's really upsetting that he may never do a North America tour but I'm hoping I can catch him in Europe one of these days. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7dAuamNqkE Also Afrojack finally released Replica. When I first heard it in his EM I just about lost my poo poo, only to find out it doesn't exist. This final version added a synth line to the final drop which makes it even better. I don't normally dig electro (although this borders on progressive), but this tune is MASSIVE. This guy has a lot of talent. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfg8CMWeUAU Oh and Umek's new track on 1605 came out, big banging tune... definitely going to drop this on NYE. Those vocals make for perfect mix in/out points. REALLY maintains the energy levels. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9V-751O2LnA Manuel De La Mare (easily one of my favourite house/tech-house/techno producers at the moment) released this house remix bomb called Solid. Such a wicked bassline. A little hard to mix out of because its pretty heavy with no real outro but this is one of my favourite house songs in a while. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVzfQfOQx8k And for any tech-house fans, check out the Nim EP by Steve Slight. Two amazing tracks, make an excellent bridge to build progression or to close/start a set. Too bad its not on youtube and frankly I'm too lazy to upload them, but they are worth a good listen. Finally a request, I want some Pryda mixes! His em is a little dated so I would love to hear a recent Pryda set. I guess I can google but I wonder if there are any floating around people can recommend.

A friend wants me to DJ a party on the 28th, no problem, but its Bollywood themed and therefore she wants Bollywood techno or anything along those lines. I'm currently googling for it but having no success at the moment. Would any of you be able to kindly point me in the right direction? Thanks

I'm currently googling for it but having no success at the moment. Would any of you be able to kindly point me in the right direction? Thanks Just try to find Indian pop music you like. Most of their pop music does indeed come from movies so look at recent Bollywood soundtracks first, but don't limit yourself to Bollywood (I have a feeling your friend isn't going for 100% authenticity). For example, this song is from a "Kollywood" movie (Tamil film industry) and sounds like something white girls who like Bollywood would dance to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLeST0jrXWU Other keywords to research are Tollywood and bhangra. But I guess your first stop should be Indian music that is popular outside India, so pick up the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack and that Panjabi MC song that samples Knightrider. People will probably be expecting you to play Jai Ho and Panjabi MC twice each so those are the aces up your sleeve. As for less-known stuff, I don't know where you can actually acquire the music but there is probably some English-language online resource you can use. Edit: Oh wait I meant to say DID SOMEONE SAY INDIAN TECHNO??? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUqnPYwoiF4 Hammsturabi fucked around with this message at 05:51 on Dec 23, 2010 |

Talvin Singh is pretty straight forward, but Amon Tobin is Brazilian. You're probably looking towards some sort of Asian themed electronic, but honestly, she should get you playing bhangra instead.

He bridges the gap between progressive and techno really well, but this, like most of his other tracks, just ends up sounding so dull to me. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I'm turned off by repetition, it's just that after hearing his work on tracks like Melo and Niton, it's hard for me to be more than "meh" about this track.

He chops up the beat in his remix of Moombah, and also he basically just remade Pon De Floor for his track I'll Be There. That resampled voice/formant filtering whatever, which is the same synth he used in his Alejandro remix, is all over dutch house, it's definitely been a flavor du jour http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3N1OQvJ5v2k http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJV8CI-GOuI
