Ive got an aluminum HF racing jack and I think it has a pretty quick release. If you try to use it like a regular jack, your car is dropping. Barely a quarter turn of the handle will get things moving at a reasonable pace.

I have basically the jack Fireantz posted (same model, but about 10 years old), and it has the issue Lowclock was asking about. Hard to turn to release initially, but once it releases it drops very quickly. It wasn't always like this. It started doing this about 3 years ago. I'm sure heavy use and cold winter storage are contributing factors.

MY HF racing jack does alright for, umm, actual racing. Make sure you grease the end of the handle, it galls instantly when new (anodized aluminum against maybe aluminum) and is rough forever after. Its much easier to modulate when it doesn't rotate like a stick in a box of bolts.

My condo flooded and the HF aluminum jack was basically submerged in water. It's dry now and I'm not worried about the aluminum corroding but is there anything else that might have problems?

Aluminum corrodes nearly instantly when exposed to air, and has a pseudo-protective barrier. Water immersion should not have an effect. I would not be concerned about the metal, but would be of the fluid and seals mentioned above. It's probably all OK, but jack oil is cheap enough.

The fasteners, fittings and pistons etc are still going to be ferrous, though, so check them out. A dousing of WD40 or similar might be an idea.

Any idea if it will peel off of paint on body panels? More specifically, flat or satin paint? I'm having dirty thoughts about doing some gnarly scallops on my car, and if plastidip made them removable, I'd be more likely to give it a go, I think.

So do you guys like the wobble extension things? I was considering getting some when I was in HF today loading up on impact sockets, but I'm not convinced it would be anything but annoying in most cases. I got the impact wobble extensions, and if you do shove them down a little it makes it into a regular socket extension.

Alright, I guess I'll snag the wobble extensions while they're still on clearance. Thanks to this thread I already bought a bunch of impact stuff to go with the rattlegun I got for xmas. I have been pretty impressed with HF Air tools. They are not the best by all means but they seems to work well for the price. Just got a large air compressor for Christmas, so I hurried to HF and purchased a couple of tools. I admit it, the earthquake impact gun is stupid powerful.
