I've been listening to the Netsky Essential mix for the last 7 days straight. Jesus for someone that doesn't listen to Drum and Bass at all, I mean I cant stand most of it (all of it) but this mix blows my mind. I assume that he is relatively new, but this guy will blow up in 2011 if he keeps this up. Am i just completely out of the loop and all the D&B fans know this already?

Also if you want to listen to the essential mix: http://www.mediafire.com/file/1d4dthclab4xx40/Essential%20Mix_Netsky_2010_10_09.mp3

IMO, anything before about a minute in could be cut. The parts afterward are what's really good about the track. Other than that this track is pretty cool.

Question: How can you say you can't stand any drum and bass but have the Netsky essential mix 'blow your mind'? The mix is full of liquid dnb from all different types of label and artist for a start with only a few of his tracks. Have you got some incorrect preconceptions about dnb or something that make you think you hate it or what? His tracks personally i don't even think that are good and he's not the best artist on Hospital, which is full of talent.

Yes, the stems for Pon De Floor were released a long time ago for anyone to use, that's where he got them. He chops up the beat in his remix of Moombah, and also he basically just remade Pon De Floor for his track I'll Be There. That resampled voice/formant filtering whatever, which is the same synth he used in his Alejandro remix, is all over dutch house, it's definitely been a flavor du jour

We cry together, friend. I still have "You're a Woman, I'm a Machine" in my car. Also seconded on "Fist" being terrible. His solo remixes are pretty solid, and towel swinger wasn't a bad banger.

I now place all my hope in Felix Cartal.

When I said I couldn't stand DnB I just meant that as a very casual listener I didn't like any of the stuff I was hearing. It just sounded too generic and didn't do much for me. I guess when I heard a bunch of various styles/songs mashed up it sounded a lot better to me instead of just clicking and listening to a single track on youtube.

Well makes sense, you have to keep in mind unless they are edits all the single tracks are mixable length so you got minutes either side solely for DJs to use pretty much. I love cut-vocal dnb and hardcore most atm, it's great, classic one here:

re: netsky
Dnb is really hard for people to get into because it's so fast. I definitely have seen some great dnb shows before, but for the average person who wants to dance it's just too much. Dnb to me -- especially in the US -- just isn't approachable the same way that even 140bpm trance is. That being said, I adore netsky. I think he has a sound that can really stand on its own more than most dnb. He may not be the best liquid artist out there, but I don't really give a poo poo because I don't listen to that much dnb.

I always found RJD2 and Pretty Lights to have a similar styles inc certain ways, and it was cool to notice that "Iced Lightning" by RJD2 uses the same sample as "Fill Your Eyes" by Pretty Lights. Pretty Light's bass lines are just soo nice. I wonder how he does it.
