Wooden GT steering wheel with GT kit and Z logo

CUSTOM (maybe the only one in a 280zx) 3 speed B&M ratchet/slap shifter

Custom transmission and drive shaft, transmission is from the lower geared 280z (not zx but z) lower gears mean more power to the wheels

After-market half shafts to take the larger tires and more HP

800watt stereo system with 2 amps, manual base controller, two 6X5's two 6X9's and two 10inch subs with sub box plus stock speakers

General write up:

My 1981 280zx spent its life in California until i brought it to Wisconsin in 2008. It was my project car for 3 years as well as my daily driver while I lived in CA. Over the years I spent countless thousands on it to make it what it is today, but realize it still is a project. The interior is in awesome shape minus a little grease and dirt. The body is nearly rust free minus a couple spots on the roof and trunk ( two Wisconsin winters was all it took) and both spots are savable as neither of those spots are cancerous. The floor pans are in excellent condition as well as the frame and underside of the car. Otherwise with a little wax the rest of the car shines like new.

The car its self is very fast. When tuned and driven properly it will run low 12 in the quarter mile posting a personal best of 11.59 at 118.63 mph. It makes roughly 280 hp at the crank and 240 at the rear wheels. More then enough to have a great time and go fast.

The car overall is a really cool machine. It has most of the problems that a 30 year old sports car will have. A drip of oil here, a rattle now and then, but it doesnt burn any oil and has wonderful compression. Along with the problems caused by age the 280 has a electrical problem that was never important enough to deal with but important enough to note. The wiring for the ignition is a little screwed up and need to be played with to get the car to start and then turned back a click for the accessories to run. Also the wiring for the MAF is a little fried, I have it jimmy rigged but it it should be replaced. Truthfully the car is worth every penny to the right person. If your 16 with no mechanical experience dont waste your time or money. If you know what your looking at, know how expensive a new turbocharger and intercooler are, and know how to turn a wrench if you need to the this is defiantly something you may be interested in. Parted out on Z car websites this car will fetch well over the asking price. Do some research and see what these cars are selling for with NO modifications. Check the prices of the mods I have and do the math. It really is a good deal.

Totally worth it. And if you buy a large plot, you can be buried in it.(in the casket which is in the hearse). Plus you can make money with it. Go to your neighborhood funeral home and offer to haul bodies around for them. Who wouldn't want to go for a final ride in a white Cadillac?

The car probably does run at 17 psi on stock injectors. How well and with what kind of fueling precision, who knows? Probably crap. They do have an MAF though, one of those old school 'swinging door' types. But I have to agree with the 11 sec quarters being a crock of poo poo.

It has been for sale since May of last year I think and he was asking nearly $8000 at one point? My memory is really bad with this one because I look at the ZX's and move on looking for Z's. If you want I could attempt to get more information etc from the seller as I'm not far from the area.

No way, not with that turbo. I couldn't get my stock injectors to go past 14psi on an intercooled factory turbo with their duty cycle nearly maxed out on my MegaSquirt and a Walbro 255 fuel pump. The head gasket would be destroyed after a couple of minutes of that kind of abuse.

Also 280ZXs run AFMs as opposed to MAFs. You're correct on the flapper door thing, but the term wasn't right. a 280ZX turbo owner should know this.
