No, that isn't mechanical failure, thats just pure stupidity and lack of ability to drive, still good though

Part Stupid Part Mechanical Failure

Look dumbass do you understand what your radiator does and how it works? If you create a TON of load on your engine and it has no way to cool itself sufficiently (i.e. no airflow beyond what the fan is pulling) your car is going to DIE. There is a reason Dynos have a HUGE fan in front of the car

It looks like those had been run for a good while. Nothing is broken off, and it doesn't look like the ground was crushed flat, just bent a bit. Besides some damaged plugs that grounded out, I don't see too much of a problem.

Perhaps if the rod bearings let go so bad the pistons smacked the plugs?

Chuck some new seats, valves and a piston at it and hone the poo poo out of the cylinder and you will be good to go!

Seriously, newer 4strokes are like riding a hand grenade with the pin pulled.

No time like the present to get a worked over head, big bore kit, Ti valves and springs and some cams.

Wow, lol. I kind of figured you'd see a little bit of rounding on the edges of the piston, but that's quite a significant bit of ringland missing. :monocle:

It was a 2001 Miata motor. That cylinder actually came up 180psi on a compression test.

Protip don't run near 14:1 AFRs on a track car.

That specific cylinder is 180, #2 and #3 were 120 and 75.

The blow by was so bad it was forcing oil out the closed oil cap.

No, you missed the point. The boost is to overcome the leaky piston rings. You can run another 60 or 80 miles from that thing. If that doesn't work, perhaps a hydrazine shot or two into the gas tank. I promise you it will run...
