Hell those wheels are worth almost half the price of the car. If you only got a year out of it before the chassis cracked it would still be worth it. That thing is hot. I just bought an old Mercedes because of this stupid thread. 560sl. Pics coming.

el topo posted:Surely I'm not the only one to notice that the driver's door doesn't match the color of the rest of the body... that's got to mean something. Title issues? The seller of the gray car bought it non-running from a junkyard for $1k, it isn't a Lorinser but a modded greymarket car. The wheels and headlights with wipers are worth at least $1k though. This "AMG" has been for sale for at least 2.5 (!) years on craigslist. The seller is interested in a straight trade for my 300cd. I would do that trade if it had AMG or Lorinser paperwork, many 1980's riced W126s were done at random bodyshops by ordering the bodykits from AMG or other tuners. I'm fine with the hideous metallic gold color because my 300cd is the same color. AMG of Chicago modified oodles of these. This gold one looks like it has the Lorinser bodykit and styling, but that doesn't explain the later AMG wheels. http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/2201584120.html Click here for the full 700x414 image. Tai-Pan, congrats on the 560sl purchase! The later model years of an MB are always the best & most refined.

I'm not sure how one arrives at this, but it's kinda cool. The only thing that could make this better would be if the table flipped up and the trunk tool kit was still there, but modded into a pencil/marker/etc. holder.
