I try not to be quite that negative. I think there's a way for him to make more mature music without going the route of making the rap equivalent of Creed albums. He should do what he did on Underground, and really try to innovate. He's one of the few mainstream hip hop artists who has the authority and fan base to do so.

He can still rap, and isn't inherently boring like Joe Budden, so yeah I guess it's possible. Likely though?

With the success of Recovery, I think he's in Jay-Z territory now. He'll make occasional good songs and show up at bat on features but his albums are gonna be middle America chart and Grammy bait.

I'm interested in your reasoning as to how this album is "hands down" worse than Recovery and Encore.

edit: The voice thing is not a good enough reason.
I bought Relapse...and wanted a refund for the first time of an Em album. Him singing is just not as intriguing as his wordplay. He has some good lyrics but they don't hold any re-playability for me. Then you add on the voice problem. Recovery's production is very debatable but its content is more meaningful, and its songs have more impact than both Relapse and Encore, but it's not his best work. That title belongs to the Eminem Show or the MM LP.

Edit: The fact that he didn't even try to be creative turned me away from Relapse. And I thought that before "Not Afraid".

Also I gotta say that Underground Vol 3: Kings Of Memphis is my favorite bc of all the songs from what to me is the peak of Triple : Da Summa remix, M.E.M.P.H.I.S remix, Smokin on Da Dro, Powder (Higher Version), Wonabees, gently caress What U Heard, etc.

The best Project Pat album is still Ghetty Green but the ones he's done since getting out of prison have been pretty good too. Walkin Bank Roll was probably my favorite of those.

Yeah, I agree with all of this, except the last point. Layin Da Smack Down is better than Ghetty Green, I think. That Drank is still one of my surp songs. I think Underground Vol. 3 is the best out of those, but Vol. 1 is good for basically taking all the good tracks from their previous series and putting them on one CD. Time For Da Juice Mane is such a sick song. I really like what DJ Paul is doing lately. That Lil Loco mixtape "Yella Tape Tha Murda Scene" was a pretty good imitation of those early tapes, without sounding repetitive or dated. J-Green is a real good producer, I hope he puts out some more stuff.

I guess I just don't understand why Eminem featured him at all, since he raps like he has mental problems and ruined the otherwise flawless Amityville.

WHO THE FUCK TOLD ME NOT TO SPOKE?
Anyone check Ill Bill/Vinnie Paz's new album? I forgot it dropped yesterday and haven't seen anything about it here. I'm a few songs deep and it's nothing groundbreaking or anything but I'm a big fan of both dudes and it's pretty much what you'd expect from them. It might just be the first couple songs but bringing back the scratching from the HMK song was dope. The track with Q-Unique & Slaine is my favorite so far, I wish Slaine would do more solo stuff.

As far as Eminem, his days as a crazy, immature e-head are over but I'll take this over TES or Encore. I'm hoping this whole 2.0 poo poo makes him step it up but the days of Bad Meets Evil, Murder Murder, etc. are just a hazy, 12 year old memory.

Oh yeah, I was high and bored last night and found out that getting snuffed wasn't the only funny thing from jbtv, I laughed my rear end off at Joell and Joe arguing about who would win a race. "I DON'T WANNA TALK NO MORE!"

Have you ever heard Secret Wars by Grayskul (feat. Oldominion)?

Probably my favorite posse cut ever, and my favorite album from a Seattle group ever. The album is a concept album based around Iron Age comic books so this last song every one of the MCs takes on a superhero alter-ego.

Smoke M2D6

not gonna lie, that's definitely not what goes through my mind when I listen to Shook Ones but it is a pretty cool discovery. Also a great example of how to properly screw a sample since it is the most memorable part of the beat.
