Ha ha, I just remembered, here is one of the douchiest paragraphs ever written:

the guy pictured below posted:

Case in point: Ramadanman and Zed Bias. While the 2 UK producers certainly work with bass sounds in their music, to define them as dubstep would throw off all American’s conception of their sound. More moody and finesse then what most Yanks would consider dubstep, it is more similar to Jamie XX and to throw around a emerging genre some might be familiar with, UK Funky. Other terms that probably won’t help much to most in Miami are Garage and 2-Step.

Ramadanman and Zed Bias' tunes aren't all that similar so comparing them like that is a bit inane, juke is a much better reference point for Ramadanman than UKG, and neither of them have anything to do with funky. It's just years old buzzwords without any content.

To continue my man love with Above and Beyond (btw who ever suggested Trance Around the World is a saint) they are playing in Santa Cruz,CA (my hometown) on May 26th. I'm pissed I cant go, but jesus the venue they are playing at is horrible. There are a couple SC goons that are in this thread so you can agree with me that for the Caliber of DJ's that are A&B the Civic Center is a horrible location. Not to mention that it is an All ages event.

Would've been awesome to see them perform though. Also I didn't realize until now how much Trance I listen to. I dont know if thats good or bad.

The civic actually is probably the best venue for them to play. Its got a pretty good sound system, and its waaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy better than the catalyst in everything. The catalyst is terrible.

Where else could they play? The Catalyst is awful... I feel like the Civic Center is a pretty sweet venue to be honest, one of my favorite smaller ones to see electronic music. Luckily this is a trance show so all of the terrible Santa Cruz 14 year olds who live for Dubstep should be gone.

Yeah all of the ptots are getting all over the promoter for putting on a show without ~Dubstep~, its actually pretty funny. But definitely the Civic is a pretty fun venue. Did you see that Steve Aoki is coming to the Civic June 2nd?

I saw that show... I really don't dig Steve Aoki much; I've seen him three time and all three times it was pretty much the same stuff, and it just wasn't much fun. Also that's way too close to finals for me, and as a graduating senior (UCSC) I should probably just focus on more important things.

Ya, maybe I just grew up thinking of the Civic as a place where you played basketball on the weekends, rather than a place that would hold Trance concerts. I just can't imagine a ton of people rocking out on a basketball court that is at least 70 years old. Although the Smashing Pumpkins played there a couple years back and rocked it.

e; sorry, about the derail.

Anybody know what's up with EDC Las Vegas tickets? They went on sale on the 23rd and the single day friday and saturday tickets are sold out. Only single day sunday, VIP and 3day passes are currently available.

Last year the single day tickets for Los Angeles were available a lot longer than that. Does anybody think they will start selling them again? If not, I guess i'll buy the 3 day pass and hope I'm not dead come Sunday morning.

Also, what does an additional 100k or so people going to Vegas mean in terms of traffic/hotel prices?

Unfortunately, the whole genre seems to be a bit generic.

That being said, I do like most of the vocalists Tiesto and Armin van Buuren work with.

Trance was my entrance into the world of electronic music, but I really didn't listen to enough before I started on house though.
