I could swear Howard is on the radio for like two seconds in Pineapple Express. All he says is "Ok thanks Dale, next caller" pretty sure it's him.

The Office had a shout out to Howard a couple weeks ago. Someone here mentioned it I think. The Kathy Bates character (Jo) asked Jim (John Krasinski)if he had listened to Howard that morning, and then she made some crack about how Robin is really good on the show but has to remember it's Howard's show. It was incredibly random.

The way that Office thread is, you could make up Stern becoming the new boss and someone would believe you. Like a Richard and Sal prank call. Yeesh.

Especially since her character is from the south and not likely someone who would listen to Howard. But yeah, pretty random.

I had to acquit that thread for mainly that reason.

Jo is a balls to the wall type of person so it makes sense to have her listen to the show, but it was so out of place. Like when Dennis the beeper guy yelled Baba Booey on 30 Rock. (Which was hysterical).

It's almost like The Office takes place in a different universe where none of what's here is there, if that makes sense.

So, I have a question: can someone explain the difference between Sirius XM Hits 1 and XM 20 on 20? 20 on 20 has people voting, from what I understand, on the playlist? One has the Morning Mash Up? I hate to admit how confounded I am by the fact they both exist on the XM platform.

Like a microcosm of real life where Stern is much more level headed and less of a poo poo head than the majority of celebrities and public figures that are followed, but he is still hated and misunderstood.

I mean, he says a lot of dumb poo poo sometimes, but his honesty is still light years ahead of other programs, even if it reveals his flaws.

Too bad we can't go out on the streets of the forums and interview people about who they hate more. Depending on the forum, Bin Laden would actually rate better (and in my head Howard is flipping out).

I did not venture into that thread, so I've always held the opinion that The Office thread was the worst.

Though, Game of Thrones is definitely holding its own. Totally OT, but they gave probation to this incredibly obnoxious poster in there until after the season ends. It is one of the funniest things I've seen on SA.

At most, you'll see a company which gives you a commuting allowance - but for mass transit only. I used to work in Hoboken - I would drive in and fight for parking. It was a total nightmare. I spent hundreds of dollars in parking tickets.

It's pretty normal to have to pay for your own parking in a city. I work in Philadelphia, and get my mass transit costs taken out pre-tax. It's not free, but it does save money.

I don't even bring up his name around older women because the reaction is annoying. I find people like Rush Limbaugh way more vile and negatively affecting the public with their opinions than Howard Stern having a porn star on saying stupid things and taking her clothes off.

Fortunately, my girlfriend and her mother actually think Stern is funny. I'd hate to end up with someone like Jerry O'Connell, where he has to wake up at 6am to play video games on mute or give up his season tickets to the Chargers because Romijn doesn't like it.

I was interviewed like 3 times at a place in Cambridge, MA. They said they paid for parking. What this meant was they gave everyone $50 a month for parking. A monthly parking pass, though, was about $400 a month.

You had to pay for bicycle parking, too, though that was like $200 a month.

I don't think it was really that random.

When Jo asked Jim if he listened to Stern, he was quick to shrug it off with a "no" and turn to the camera with his trademark "what the gently caress" look. Jim is supposed to be the young cool level headed guy and Jo is supposed to be a disconnected older crazy person. A lot of the demographic for the show would agree about Howard being "uncool", so it was probably at least a bit of a shot.

Also "The Office" is currently going through a leadership crisis with the exit of Michael Scott, so the comment about how a secondary person (Robin) can be really good but still needs a primary (Howard) fit in with the theme of the episode. The character was actually only at the office because of issues surrounding that leadership crisis.

Holy shitballs. You must be a regular in The Office thread. :)

Here is why it was random: The Office operates almost in a different reality than we do. You don't hear them talking movies or music in that casual of a way typically, so of all things to bring up Howard seemed weird.

I thought the crack was more about how Robin needs to shut up.

poo poo, I thought my company was bad for encouraging people to ride bikes to work in downtown Chicago then suggesting that if you couldn't do it without breaking a sweat you could just join the company gym for $80 per month. At least they didn't have the balls to try and charge for bike parking.

I guess you both are going to see whatever you want into it then.

It's probably just a nod to Howard, to get his listeners to notice the show, everyone I know stopped watching that show because it got dumb, so they are trotting out guest stars left and right to get noticed, makes sense they would drop his name because we would all notice it.

Now if Debbie the Pet lady or High Pitch guest starred as a potential boss, that would be awesome.

Well, according to Fallon, he was picked because they needed someone who could do impressions, which seems reasonable. I don't think Sandler did too many impressions, he was more of a wacky character kind of guy.

What? Off the top of my head from this season alone ...

There was a whole episode about watching "Glee". Michael once worried that he had only seen "Inception" in a dream. Gabe expressed his enthusiasm for horror films and said that his favourite was "Suspiria" (this one blew me away being a huge Argento fan myself). There was a whole episode about "Sweeney Todd". Michael tells a story about auditioning for a play by acting out a whole episode of "Law & Order". Some of the characters play the "Dallas" board game and drop all sorts of references about that series. Michael often makes "Austin Powers" jokes when he gets stuck in a social situation. Jim and Pam's daughter ends up wearing an Arcade Fire t-shirt for her baptism.

The "Threat Level Midnight" episode was an insane collection of characters making direct pop culture references, including some obscure ones. The Halloween episode had characters dressed up as characters from "True Blood".

I'm not sure if I could be convinced that the show doesn't have them talking about pop culture.
