OH yeah, dave nadas twitter said he isn't playing EDC but that was a few days ago and I can't find it. He's playing the MoMA NYC, as Nadastrom, I think?

Been following this thread for a while now and really enjoy most of the stuff posted here. Can you guys recommend some good moombahton/moombahcore? Really interested in it after hearing that Diplo/Skrillex track.

Check out all of Heartbreak and Munchi's compilations like Summer/Fall/Winter of Moombahton, Dave Nada, Dillon Francis, etc. Diplo's recent mix is up on his SoundCloud and owns pretty hard but if you're looking for tracks to augment your library they're pretty much all unreleased as of yet.

This track goes but could you even classify it as Moombahton? Just doesn't really sound like the other stuff I've heard with way more reggeton in them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htImd3IlZDg

Pretty Lights was rather epic at Governors Ball in NYC this past weekend. To compensate for having to end his set at a reasonable time he came up with a new remix to play. The camera phone doesn't really pick up on all the glitch/grime/distortion, but you'll get the idea. Definitely a highlight of his show for me, I'm hoping he releases it. His new stage set is absolutely ridiculous also. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fe1XjJxKYnA&feature=related

This is pretty cool because it has the same beat and sound palette as every other moombahton track, yet a totally different, melancholic vibe due to the R&B sample. I think this particular track is too schizophrenic to work (should I dance or cry?) but I think they're onto something. I could see some pretty cool music being made like this if one used the right sample or chord progression. N.B. This is pretty much a moombahton remix of "Song Cry" by Jay-Z. I didn't want to dance to it then and I don't want to dance to it now.

incoherent posted:Wouldn't be surprised if the waters were 4 dollars. 20 ounce bottles were 3 dollars, and you could purchase a nice durable water bottle for 10. There was a free water station where you could refill bottles. There should have been another station because the single station was constantly packed, but you could get water if you needed it within 5 minutes. If you ask me it's the kid's fault because if you don't have the presence of mind to take a breather and drink some water in the hot Texas summer, I don't know what else can be done for you. Drugs or no drugs, some people just aren't smart enough to take care of themselves for some reason. People get hospitalized at metal festivals for mosh pit injuries and heat exhaustion too, but for some reason electronic events get singled out. I've been going to events for years, and in my opinion Texas really needed EDC because events before this were not done nearly as good. I really hope this irresponsible kid doesn't get Dallas' best electronic event taken away. Tenkaris fucked around with this message at 00:40 on Jun 21, 2011 |

This is also a great article about EDC Dallas. For anyone who doesn't want to read the whole thing, you can get a pretty good jist of it from the opening 4 paragraphs: quote:All right, the geezer view: I attended the Electric Daisy Carnival at Fair Park on Saturday night as a reporter. I am in my sixties. Also, to highlight, in case anyone's left thinking "man, what idiot pulled the fire alarm", from the other Dallas Observer link: quote:At this point, it appears as if the quick end to the night, which came at around 1:30 a.m. after a fire alarm had been pulled in one of the buildings, was unrelated to the hospitalizations and the result of a fire marshal mandate.
