They are playing a McDonald's smoothie commercial on the radio that compares a new smoothie to the smoothie's older brother Steve. Everyone loved Steve in high school, and now this new smoothie has to try to fill Steve's shoes. Commercial is narrated by a dude, and as he is making all of these slurping sounds, he says something about "tastes just like Steve" or something. Not sure what audience they are going after with that gem.

There's a new Pepsi summer commercial out that's just horrible (can't find it on video yet). There are polar bears with Coca Cola and this yacht comes out of nowhere with a "tanned" polar bear with others in bikinis. He is talking about partying and throws them Pepsis. The animation just seems incredibly amateur and the voices are awful. It almost looks like a student project. I have a feeling I will be seeing a lot of this one.

Man, I'd be careful with Pepsi. I heard that Pepsi teamed up with Wendy's for soft drink purposes, and they had such a virulent breakout of Listeria in their food products that all their employees were instructed to deny it. Don't eat Wendy's or Pepsi, you'll get Listeria. It will almost certainly kill your kids.

I don't watch a lot of TV on TV anymore, so the only real ads I get are hulu and radio ads. I've found they bother me more than I used to by a lot, though. Back when I did watch TV in real-time there was a terrible local commercial for KIEFER KIA USED CARE SUPERSTORE that was so awful with its recurring KIEFER KIA PRINCESS theme that I still remember it, and shudder. So bad that when I bought a car I called up this dealership and told them I liked some of their cars but would never buy from them because of the ads. And I'm not usually an rear end in a top hat. I tried to find some video clips for you guys but there don't seem to be any online. Also local: MR. APPLIANCE. He runs a used appliance store and a used car lot. His wife is briefly in this (very old) ad, but I wish I could find ones of her now because she looks pretty much exactly like Carrot Top and it is amazing/horrifying. I actually just saw that Pepsi commercial for the first time and I find it straight up offensive for the animators of the original coke CGI commercials. Not saying the originals aren't played out but the animation for those pepsi ones are horrible.

Just saw the Cowboys vs. Aliens trailer. Every time the aliens are shown, you hear a particular robotic sound. They did the same with Battle: LA and Transformers. Is this a new trend? I hate it already.

There's an ad on ESPN Radio.com where this fellow rambles on and on about the aliens that are coming, how they're going to make him one of their generals, and how he can communicate with dolphins. Seriously, it goes on like this for 45 seconds, and is interrupted about every 15 with something like, "Wouldn't you rather be listening to ESPN Radio than this guy?" or something. It seriously makes me want to punch whatever exec thought this was a good idea.

But it begins with some piano notes and a guy saying "YOU are the next trending topic..." and ends with a little girl singing a song, of which only four words are audible until it's cut off for more narration. gently caress this commercial so much. I have been successful in dodging the commercial for the past week thanks to the mute button and fast forwarding on the dvr. However, the song has been in my head all morning today despite my avoidance of the commercial, which made me look in his thread to see if anyone else shared my hatred. I haven't been this annoyed by a commercial song since the hipster girl singing "up on the rooftop" in the Hyundai commercials last November/December.

I recently saw a commercial for Bayer or something similar where their incompetent camera-man kept getting the mic boom in the shot. What the hell. I can't find it on youtube but you'll now what I'm talking about if you see it. I also just found out that a bunch of people have made their own homemade Bayer commercials. Why would anyone do that?
