moms pubis posted:I just signed up for the free trial of Rdio and its iPhone app blows Spotify's out of the water. Offline syncing is faster and more reliable, browsing and searching is easier, and--get this--deleting an offline playlist actually removes the tracks from the device instead of leaving them there to take up space indefinitely. The library supposedly isn't as big, but so far everything I've listened to on Spotify I've been able to find on Rdio as well. I'll be switching as soon as my month of Spotify Premium runs out. If you switch to rdio is there a way to import your playlist from Spotify? Edit: Ironically while playing around with Rdio I noticed there are songs there that aren't available on Spotify (Damien Rice "9 Crimes" and the Adele album "21" for example. masada00 fucked around with this message at 02:50 on Jul 24, 2011 |

Are all these invitations being given away for the UK or US Spotify accounts? Or are they the same unless you personally send an invitation request to Spotify? I'm wondering because my friend has an "Artist Radio" tab next to her "Related Artists," but I have never seen one. I thought this might be because of a difference in UK/US accounts.

Invites are only needed for US accounts, but won't make much of a difference when used elsewhere (where they are not needed). I wasn't aware there was a difference in the artist radio thingy, but if it is different between regions, having an invite or not when creating the account won't matter. What region/country your account "belongs to" depends on what IP you come from when you sign up, or what country your credit card is from when paying.

Is it normal Scrobbling to Last.fm is a bit wonky (it seems to just not scrobble some tracks, mainly when I pause before the middle and resume it later). I understand the RHCP song without tags and the ad isn't working, but it's missing some normal songs too.

So after 6 months I either have to pay $10 a month or get a bunch of lovely caps? Seems a little dishonest considering I didn't see anything about it when signing up, as though they're pretty much only offering unlimited w/ ads to get you hooked on it so they can go "ha ha, no, 5 track listen limit and 10 hour max now. buy unlimited."

Seems a little dishonest considering I didn't see anything about it when signing up, https://www.spotify.com/us/get-spotify/overview/ The two plans that aren't free clearly advertise being unlimited while the free one does not. Granted how the free plan is limited isn't really explained but its not exactly hidden that it is in fact limited in some way.

The Modern Leper posted:"How quickly the world owes you something you didn't even know existed five minutes ago" - Louis C.K. Clearly, they would have the same userbase they do now if from the get-go, they said "Hey, so, in 6 months, in addition to these ads, you're going to have a limit of 10 hours of listening a month, and 5 repeats of a single track max, unless you subscribe for $5." instead of "SPOTIFY IS IN THE US!! SIGN UP NOW!! FREE MUSIC!!!! (disclaimer: for a while)" I have the choice to use the service or not if I think it is fair and when making an educated decision to use it or not information is withheld from me I have a reason to get a bit upset, I don't think they owe me free music forever but that's certainly the way they advertised it. Also, the tiered sound quality's a little sketchy. I understand they have bandwidth concerns but it's a little lovely you can't just pay another $2 if you just want better sound quality + unlimited instead of paying the full $10 for mobile services you might never use. Also, what the hell does this mean? I can't log in from more than one PC after 14 days? Lavender Philtrum fucked around with this message at 10:24 on Jul 25, 2011 |

In regards to Spotify vs. Rdio, am I the only one who thinks the audio quality of Rdio is sub-par at best? There's definitely a difference between Spotify's audio quality and Rdio's quality.

I found the ads to be pretty intrusive and annoying, so that decided it for me; I am going to sign up for the $5 a month plan. This service is pretty nice and i've had very few cases where I couldn't find a song I wanted, making it worth it.

I've tried searching by label, but it doesn't find anything unless there happens to be a label compilation (i.e. the label name is part of an album name). That's one feature I used all the time on Lala and now I miss it.
