Any fans of Inquisition? They sound a lot like Immortal to begin with, but they bring a lot of energy to the table considering the fact that it's just two guys instead of three. Their set at MDF was ricockulous.

Inquisition is the poo poo. The whole discography is amazing, from their Kreator ripoff days until the one from last year.

I feel the same way. Usually I have cycles of metal to listen to (folk metal in spring and summer, power metal in winter, black metal in autumn, though not strict to this).

Usually I would listen to VArjoina kuljemme kuolleiden maassa in autumn and winter, but it has stuck with me!

So far "Burnt Letters" is the only track available online, but the full length is set for a September release (along with the new Wolves). It basically sounds like Microcosmos/Handful of Stars era Drudkh with Niege's clean vocals over it, and I love it!

Glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks this way. Different styles of metal really do seem suited to different seasons. For me, given the insane heat we've been having here in eastern Canada, I'm all about the Death/Thrash right now! :black101:

Just came here to post that :( Ludicra was a loving amazing band and a shining example of good American black metal. I am very sad to see them go, and more selfishly that I never got to see them live.

The band is selling off its remaining merch at very low prices - $5 tees and $7 LPs. Pick something up.

Edit: On a lighter note, WITTR's tour dates for Celestial Lineage have been announced. I really like the idea of seeing them in a forest.

People who are into "new" darkthrone might dig a band called Omega from greece. it's not quite as interesting as darkthrone can be, but gently caress if it's not back to basics 80's black metal. I really like that they didn't gently caress with things too much recording/producing it. You can hear small fuckups when the guitarist can't get his fingers moving quite as fast as he'd like, or muffs a harmonic.

Yeah that's where I heard about them first. I think they definitely sound like what darkthrone would've sounded like if they hadn't had years of learning/writing before going to their punkier sound.

Anyone else heard of SAD? Ignoring the silly name, they're a really kickass BM band from Greece. Their vocalist is fantastic and they have some really catchy and emotional riffs.

SAD - Let Snow Cover the Earth.

It's funny a mediterranean band sings about snow but it's good poo poo. Not exactly setting them apart from anyone else but at least they're doing it well. The lovely production helps a lot, like their amps are in a snowbank. This would suck if it were clean and bright sounding.

edit: after 3 songs on youtube I'm backpedaling a bit. They've used the same chords in each song, in slightly different order, and mostly the same tempo. It's still decent but nothing really changes song to song.

Pitchfork has an interview with Leviathan, the dude that allegedly raped his then gf with tattooing tools. I personally really like his music. But can you separate the person from the art?

It's a short read and the guy is not blabbing about the 'attitude' that BM artists should have. He does express a LOT of hatred though. I am sure that his album will be awesome.
