I know, but is it straight up house or is it some subgenre of house or Pop House or some poo poo

I'm really not that far from someone who referred to all EDM music as "techno" so you'll have to humor me

I guess I'd call it Electro House or BroHouse.
Regarding dubstep I think the thread will agree that actual dubstep (Mala) is great, modern (American) dubstep is mostly bad but can be good, and brostep (the kind of "filthy poo poo" bros on Facebook link you to) is terrible

Sounds like electro house to me. To answer your earlier question, not everyone in this thread hates dubstep, but the dubstep likers are in the minority.

EDIT: holy gently caress did I get beaten.

I'm guessing Skrillex type stuff is the brostep yall are referring to? Thats what bros around here listen to.

Anyways thanks, one more question if you feel like answering, is this stuff House or is it Trance? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8nQa1cJyX8

Thanks in advance. I'm sick of listening to stuff and not knowing wtf it is

Just another day in the LA dance music scene. Planking in response to riot police at a Kaskade block party (or some poo poo) ftw.

"EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO HOME NOW! I DON'T WANT THIS TO REFLECT BADLY ON EDM OR WHAT WE ARE ABOUT. BE RESPECTFUL AND CHILL OUT!!!" https://twitter.com/kaskade

Yeah dude, tell your 100,000 twitter followers to come out for an impromptu block party on a busy city street in a major city. This respectful act of positive reflection will surely go down without a hitch.

Skrillex, Borgore, Flux Pavillion etc. A good indicator is how often the word "dirty" or "sick" shows up in Youtube comments.

As for the song, an actual musician might want to back me up but I'd call that vocal trance. If you like that kind of stuff look up OceanLab.

No no no. It does not have the same "chillaxing" qualities as the other song. Although the kids at my high school who took ecstasy did freak out over this one when it played at prom.

More astute viewers will know I mentioned PrototypeRaptor's EP earlier in the thread, and he's still at it. This is a remix of Monstar's Steal The Rainbow. Pretty melodic!

Dada Life - Unleash The loving Dada (Dead C∆T Bounce Remix)

All dubstep is "real dubstep". I mentioned this in the UK Bass thread before but I'm starting to find this "real dubstep" narrative just as tedious as the "filth" dudes, since those propagating it never seem to namedrop an artist more recent than those that broke out in 2005-2006. It strikes me as an attempt to show off one's enlightened status while still not actually knowing about anything more than a handful of canonical acts.

Just to point out Ishkur's guide is absolute shite, with half of the 'genres' made up or is just plain wrong. A lot of seems like it was written by someone who's only idea of 'dance' music is a copy of Aphex Twin's Drukqs, a Paul Oakenfold mix cd and Wikipedia. In fact you'd probably be better off with Wikipedia.

So best to treat it like your mate down the pub who talks about how 9/11 was actually a conspiracy by Bush and the rest of the Illuminati. Sure he might buy you all a round every now and then, but he's still a clueless dick.

I've said similar before regarding the whole 'Brostep' thing. I still just see it as Dubstep. It's not a question of 'real' or 'not real', but more what's good and what's not good.
