Its cool, pretty sure they grow back. Just don't tell anyone that, or else the kidney market would collapse and we'd all be hosed.

Incidentally, what makes it a ranger and not an F truck?

Man they really shoehorned the 302 into that ranger, didn't they? And yeah it's pretty much a must buy.

It's a ranger because it's tiny. Those old rangers, like other 80's small pickups, were really small. Unlike modern "compact trucks."

I love when people say "everyone curbs their wheels eventually!". Maybe I'm the pope of parking but I've never come close to driving into a curb.

I change tires for a living and you wouldn't believe what people do to wheels. I changed the tires on an R8 a few weeks ago that had wheels which were most likely dragged behind a Baja 1000 truck before they were put on the car. Around here a lot of the rash can be explained by potholes but everything from a Geo Metro to an R8 are sporting scuffed up wheels. I'm usually more surprised when i get clean wheels to work on.

I'm pretty much at the point where unless otherwise specified, expect curb rash on -ALL- 4 wheels regardless of car.

He even kept the original load-leveling rear suspension from the Wagon, but managed to use as much of a SRT-4's suspension as he could. He even went as far as to wire the body computer to the door locks so he could use the SRT-4's keyless entry.

nah that 302's engine mounts actually bolt up to the stock 2.3L's engine mounting holes. :D

The ranger has actually barely changed in it's 28 years. it's gotten a couple inches larger in each dimension, but the difference in wheelbase between a 1983 and a 2011 is only about 3 inches, and the difference in width is only about 3 inches.

It's sort of difficult to tell from the translation, but it looks like the only thing holding it back from looking stock is a paint job and the removal of some 'flutes' and fog lights. On second look, the valve cover looks like it's non stock as well lol.

the 4.6 is WAAAAAAY wider though. It requires a bit of engine bay modification to get it in the ranger and even then things like A/C and wiper fluid reservoirs are out of the question.

oh... yea I was talking about the 4.6 vs the old windsor/boss 302 sorry. You can pull one from an Exploder and bolt it right into your Ranger, the 4.6 is a holy gently caress-balls of a job and requires a lot of removing this and that, bending this and removing the radiator support to install.

When I saw it I was wondering if it maybe got t-boned and sandwiched between something heavy with a lot of momentum (a dump truck or something) and a pole.

Either way that's pretty whack and if it hasn't been already it should get posted in the "post pics of horrible mechanical failures" thread, too.

VW with a Porche engine! Well, technically yeah, but probably not really a 914 engine, probably just a stocker 1600cc Type 4 engine that they started throwing in them in 1972. Honestly kind of curious what he'd take for it, but probably thinks it's worth 5k+, which it's not.

Hooray projects.

This thing won't fold in on itself or anything, since the roof wasn't a major part of the car's structure, right? Oh... you mean the convertibles had extra steel to compensate for not having a roof? Oh well, it'll be fine guys.
