A lot of those look like Tourists driving fail, such as driving on the wrong side of the road, and a lot of the other ones look like lack of rules fail, as I have been to China a few times and people just don't give a poo poo there.

Right now it's the wire with probably 1/2" to an 1" of wire stripped off, and inserted between the battery post and the ring that goes around it. I'm a newb at the car stuff so I'm not sure if I'm using the right terms. I didn't even know they made something with the extra spots, so I'll take a look at that. Thanks!

uapyro posted:Right on the HAM/Amateur Radio. You could always crimp on some ring terminals and do it that way, unscrew the fastener for the clamp and mount it there. It's not pretty but it works. Then spray your terminals down with a anti-corrosion spray. If you want better, it looks like Crutchfield has adapters and such pretty cheap these days: http://www.crutchfield.com/g_713/Battery-Terminals.html?tp=708

Yeah, prolonged bouncing will overheat shocks that aren't designed to stand up to that duty cycle. They need to put oil coolers on their shocks lol. Edit: I haven't driven over anything that bad for that kind of distance, but Big Shell can sometimes have that pattern. I go slow and take breaks if I'm bouncing alot.

Ironically, the Fox dampers on the Raptor would probably have been in their element for that stuff - remote reservoirs and plenty of oil capacity. Though stopping and flying in a plane load of new dampers is probably less embarrassing than having a Landcruiser sent out to rescue you.

Throatwarbler posted:http://smh.drive.com.au/motor-news/updated-outback-cripples-mercedesbenzs-toughest-offroaders-20110805-1ie5s.html Pfft. Babies. So the shocks blew. Can someone explain to me why they stopped? Is it because it's the whole professionalism / people employed to drive safe vehicles not trying to bounce their way along recklessly? Ie the whole PR issue of an offroad vehicle going violently out of control at jogging pace and careening into the incredibly dangerous mostly flat terrain beside the road? I admit I'm being a bit of a dick with my wording. Seriously are blown shocks a total showstopper traveling a stock route? Does it set up a harmonic causing some horrible bouncing and associated stability / wheel on ground issues? I'm just trying to understand. I know blown shocks can be slightly irritating on road. As for steering dampers, I think the Fairlane is the first car I've had where the steering damper is intact and I don't see the big deal. It's probably a massive deal offroad right?

While I can see shocks blowing out on a leaf sprung vehicle not being too much of an issue off road, on a coil spring setup it would get very loving annoying very quickly, especially if there is quite a bit of weight in the back of them.

AlternateAccount posted:This never gets old. I actually found myself looking for Victorian plates on those cars. Maybe I should mount a camera for my voyages over the border. Also there was a scene where there was an enclosed truck that mounted a divider on the left and landed on its side. Did that remind anyone else of GTA3 right at the beginning near the first safehouse / Luigi's place? It looked similar and I did the same thing with a thankfully virtual similar truck. But Games are not real. In games running into poo poo is fun. In the real world it is also expensive.
