Jamie Oliver did an entire tv show season on this and it didn't get him very far heh.

Ah, but sodium and saturated fat are fine for you. Schools give PLENTY of attention to dietary guidelines. If they didn't, they'd lose federal funding of their lunch programs. The problem are with the guidelines, not the schools. This is going to result in a huge derail, so PM me if you care to discuss it more.

And I'm not talking about schools feeding kids food that follows guide lines, I'm talking about schools teaching kids that well balanced diets and exercise are important and that should be stressed as much as any other subject. In my experience during high school/middle school I took a health class that touched on this stuff. The main focus was on STD and drug prevention and even then a course you take for one year and then never again. Anyway yes derail over.

But this particular one is about a soldier coming home and this little kid is teaching his little brother how to salute. The dad drives up and the little brother runs up to him. They stare at each other for a second, then the kid salutes and his dad embraces him in a huge. Then the logo appears! CHEVY! It's so emotionally manipulative and sappy I get furious whenever I see it. I think it ran during the superbowl. I hate Chevy.

Most ads are annoying but I can ignore them. However, I get livid with propaganda like ExxonMobil saying nothing wrong can happen with fracking. I hope that geologist got paid enough to bullshit his way through the commercial and can forget his 'advice' is helping to poison the water supply. Here is the commercial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8du6pQbvyo And here is a poor bastard showing how his loving water is flammable thanks to the runoff from fracking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U01EK76Sy4A

It probably is safe. As far as the plant won't explode like the deepwater horizon and the well being there alone won't contaminate ground water. The issue is what happens in the long term over multiple fracking attempts. Now, keep in mind I'm not jumping on the whole fracking is evil and dangerous bit but like anything it's safe up until the conditions they tested for and by the conditions we currently know. Things change.

Yep I know. That's why I said as far as the plant won't explode or the well being there alone won't contaminate water. I was trying to be sarcastic. Anyhow the point I was trying to make was that anything is safe depending on how you look at it.

Also, aquatic sideshow posted:There's a stupid lovely commercial where apparently a group of people go into a restaurant, and all order bowls of cereal. Not only that, they apparently order bowls of cereal by telling the waitress whichever health problem they have, and the waitress brings out bowls of Cheerios like some sort of bizarre pharmacist-waitress-cereal maker. It boggles the mind. Imagining doing this to a waitress in real life sent me into an uncontrollable fit of giggles. So, can anybody tell me just what the hell "Jailhouse Rock" has to do with the new Fiat 500? I mean, I get that they're going for the whole old and new thing, but a loop of the opening two guitar strums and snare hits throughout the commercial (later filled with MAD BEATZ and a snippet of the guitar solo) is just... I don't know, bland and dumb, and gets pretty annoying once you've seen the commercial multiple times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1MpTxActPI Annoying and hateful? That's pushing it. Bland and terrible with a song that has absolutely nothing to do with a tiny Italian car other than the fact that they both came out in 1957? Bingo.

I haven't heard him in any other commercials either. I think Henry just has a voice that sounds a lot like your typical "car commercial narration guy." If he did though, it would probably be for the same reason that Jeff Bridges or Michael C. Hall do car commercials - money. Speaking of, that one's old but probably belongs here just for the sheer mix of Christmas cheer and the flat narration of Dexter Morgan. I don't really see why people consider it a bad thing that actor X lends his voice or face to a commercial. If anything, the ad companies must love it since you're usually getting someone comfortable with being on camera, and you know exactly how they sound. E: I guess if you don't like the guy that's one thing but jeez it drives some people crazy and I just don't get it.
