I wrote a (knowingly) cheesy fanfic for giggles after being inspired by another poster in here. It's been pointed out that it's better to post things you've done. The problem is when I actually played my character through New Vegas I didn't actually Roleplay other than "Give Me Your Caps Or Else" and "Steal Everything Then Sell it For Big Money". A while back I made a perfect Six String Samurai named Buddy http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41Z05YB35EL._SL500_AA300_.jpg though, the problem is there is no Katana in the game like Fallout 3 so he never worked out. I didn't realize I was reading the Nexus forums. (the fanfics are terrible, sorry). Screenshots and gameplay stories are all right because it's poo poo I can go "that sounds fun, I'll try that" like the guy who stormed a fort with a .45 to reach his companions. Or the poster with the Clint Eastwood looking character who actually posts about the poo poo he does, those are p fun. But background noir stories? Seriously? My last character I played with a gimmick was an all guns, no repair, lockpick, or sciences who was an all around nice guy as long as: - you don't try to take This Machine from him - don't insult / give him any poo poo. The second any of those happen, the conversation is over and I proceed to kill whoever pissed me off. The casinos and Caesar's camp learned this lesson the hard way. Surprisingly, NCR never tried taking your weapon so I sided with them. Honestly, I think I mostly ended killing everyone. Almost everyone, I'm sure. One last thing. Earlier in the thread there was a quick discussion about powerleveling/quick starts. It mentioned collecting the snow globes for quick money but how do you get that first 2000 to enter Vegas? And what's the earliest you can do OWB's? Ideally I want to get the riot gear from the start of LR, The Sink, and This Machine or just Elijah's LAER again as early as possible. I'm not interested in reading extensive fanfiction but I hope people keep posting character screenshots (and a BRIEF backstory) because I enjoy seeing what goofy poo poo people come up with. I guess my guy is kinda fanfiction-y but he was originally going to be a quest/companion mod at one point before I gave up because scripting is hard.

On that note, what are the best sources for lots of drugs in New Vegas? The Khans have gently caress-all despite being big drug suppliers (I helped them out and all I get in return is a handful of Med-X?), Dixon has a pathetic supply but plenty of cheap Jet, and that's about all I know. I've already raided the Fiend vault, unless there's another big Fiend encampment somewhere else.

Its interesting seeing people's different couriers, and hearing about their in-game exploits like "I killed my way to freedom at the Fort with A Light Shining In Darkness" or "I took every drug known to man, walked up to the alpha deathclaw and punched off his head in one go" is pretty neat, because its actually happening in the game. Its the stuff like "Hammy McGriddles walked at a leisurely pace through Freeside, unaware of what the night held for him..." where it starts to be a bit much. I mean, I'm pretty OCD about roleplaying in games like these and defining my characters goals and motivations/etc, but I'm not going to be posting it online anymore than my kawaii Garrus fanart. Real gameplay question: does anyone know how low your NCR rep can be before saving the president is off the table? I want to do a perfect House run and I know he asks you to do it, but last time I was at 'Wild Child' and he said they wouldn't let me anywhere near him. I'm currently at 'Shunned' because I was doing the Unfriendly Persuasions quest and I couldn't resist taking Marcus' 2500 caps to pay off the mercenaries, then killing them anyway and selling the loot (GRA is out today, I need the caps).

Maybe they could also include other facts like "favorite food" or "favorite drug". I can think of a pretty good one. My latest playthrough I've decided to ally myself with the NCR. On confronting Mr. House I foolishly upgraded the Securitrons earlier in the game. I decided not to use my Ranger Sequioa on the Trons because I didn't want to cheese the fight. Equipping my All American, I take the elevator up to the penthouse and start engaging the Securitons. It dawns on me however that it's going to take a lot more bullets than I thought to take them out, and they're doing a surprising bit of damage to me with their upgraded weapons. Ducking behind cover, it dawns on me that I recently found a China Lake grenade launcher and put a lot of points into Explosives to use it. This is the perfect moment to test it out. Equipping it I proceeded to wonton slaughter the Securitrons in the building. It was an incredibly satisfying feeling, shooting a grenade at them, watching them recoil from the explosion, pumping the grenade launcher like a shotgun and finishing them with a second shot before they manage to recover. http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/596940431046974459/95AC73292AC399A7CA158C3B57143F304C378C83/ Me running through an explosion shooting my grenade launcher. I reached Mr. House's chamber and slowly limping towards the console for dramatic effect, I activated it. http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/596940431046976522/60E925C01301DB1BCD4E5126F5A32F52DDA85CC7/ He asked me why I did this. It took me a moment to choose my response. "I just don't like you." was my reply. Stepping back from the console I took out my new favorite weapon and sent Mr. House off in a spectacular slow motion finish. http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/596940431046973842/5FD1B8E0E125295BF255609E5015213E57F7CC9E/ The poor guy's body was intact, but his legs were nowhere to be found.

So, I took Cass with me to Benny. I took his suit for the charisma bonus, but didn't really want to lug it around when I didn't need it. So I gave it to Cass to hold on to. This is what happens immediately after. She does have a convincing argument. Also, I recently beat Lonesome Road...anyone else really disappointed by it? I was expecting something really profound, and instead got some philosophy 101 lectures.

I'm starting to feel a bit guilty about brutally murdering every faction in the game that didn't have something tangible to offer my utopian New Vegas. Basically not offering something tangible has gone from originally being hostile or morally offensive to being vaguely threatening to having a heart beat. This thousand year robot reich had better be worth all the heart ache. I just saved the president and as his vertibird left I killed all the NCR present. They were cowering, I shot them in the back with A Light Shining in the Darkness one by one. What have I become, I just wanted to make a little money in the beginning. How did it come to this!? Basically not offering something tangible has gone from originally being hostile or morally offensive to being vaguely threatening to having a heart beat. I do this in most of my saves. I think it's easier to do it because all the factions are pretty gray (besides the legion), and since everyone pretty much just uses you to do all the dirty work, it's really tempting to just tell them to shove off and murder your way to an independent paradise. I've never been able to bring myself to try and side with one of the factions, honestly. I tried on my recent playthrough to side with House... then people started calling me a puppet and House got all snooty, and that was the end of that. Yes Man is just so irresistibly chipper.

The courier that really clicked for me was my aging pro-NCR John Wayne run. I tried to play something between his Rooster Cogburn, and his "Big Glory" WW2 characters. I stayed loyal to my country, but tried to keep it on the right path. I also didn't take poo poo from anyone. Except Raul, my unfaithful manservant. I don't want to get too fanfic here, but instead explain why this is my favorite game of all time. I wanted to play a old man who'd been in battle his entire life, and was rapidly falling apart. I wanted to feel like each summit climbed was a challenge. I wanted to tell people to eat a bag of poo poo when they were wasting my time, or trying to wrong something I cared about. For the most part New Vegas never let me down. I rarely felt railroaded into choosing something other than what I felt my character would naturally do, and was often surprised by the options presented to me. That's a great game. There are things I'd love to have seen done better (low intelligence dialogue, bigger/better set pieces), but I understand the financial/time limitations of game development. I'm more pleased with this game than any other, and New Vegas will always be The Grand Adventure In The Mojave to me. I hope Obsidian is given the opportunity to do another, and that if/when Bethesda does the next game they take a long hard look at what Obsidian did right.
