The Courier's Stash pretty much gives you everything you need to walk straight to Vegas, and gently caress *everything* that gets in your way. I personally am a fan of the Caravan portion of it. The leather armor, the shotgun, the repair kits? Throw some slugs in that shotgun and use a repair kit to fix up the machine gun in Doc Mitchell's house for instance, and that's like a thousand caps right there. If you happen to have high Luck [You got shot in the head and buried alive, and walked it off. You should have high Luck], you can bust the Vicki and Vance. And then the Atomic Wrangler. And then all the other casinos.

At which point you can set yourself up.

E: And that's just playing it straight, if you use/sell all the free crap you get with all the packs, you don't even need to stop at Primm.

Is there anyone else whom I could kill so that I can sit on their things? I don't think the NCR president or Oliver tend to sit on things, and most other important people you talk to through screens or they stand around.

Also, any suggestions on how to make my screenshots look a little higher res and how to remove the HUD would be appreciated.

Be sure to check the OP's FAQ. I added a "how to remove HUD" in the "How do I get my image in the OP" section.

Basically the way I do it is make it fully transparent in display settings. Well, before I got HUD mods that automatically hide them when not in use.

Spears/throwing knives+poison let me get Raul as a companion at level 6. Just have enough stealth to get away with pricking the Super Mutants from the shadows, and run away if they do see you, and Bleak Poison just ruins their loving day. Bonus points if you use vats to throw your poisoned projectile into their legs so that they can't catch you anyway with their scary, scary bludgeons.

Note: You need a lot of loving poison to do this, so a high Survival skill and foraging for ingredients ahead of time is a must.

Edit: Also, it might just be me, but I think Centaurs are part bloodhound. They are much harder to sneak up on than Super Mutants.

Look at this widdle baby, getting Raul at Level 6 :smug:

Here's what you need to get him at Level 3:

-1 Stealth Boy
-20ish Sneak
-gently caress-all combat skills
-60 Science (or 46 Science, a Programmer's Digest, and a box of Mentats)

There are huge blindspots in the Black Mountain patrols, and you can pretty much avoid being seen by anything long enough to get up near the irradiated mountaintop. Once up there, contact Tabitha on the radio in the dome and tell her you're a huge fan (probably optional, but hilarious). She'll immediately send a shitload of Super Mutants your way, but immediately active your stealth boy and sneak out, and head towards her compound. Take care not to bump into any of the also-invisible Nightkin, and your stealth boy should last long enough to get you to the shed. Repair Rhonda with that 60 Science I mentioned, leave the shed, and boom: huge experience bonus(you will hit Level 5), huge armory's worth of loot, and Raul, and not a single shot fired.

I got up there without this amount of science so just broke Raul out and gave him my armour, he was at least smart enough to shoot the mutant with Annabelle first. After that it was just pure carnage with me having almost no input whatsoever.

So I decided to start over on account of poor perk choices (took Intense Training too many times) and the fact the Charisma doesn't do squat for DLCs. I bought the Courier Stash and Gun Runner Arsenal DLCs and let me you tell you, Courier Stash makes things alot easier by starting you off with some fully repaired weapons and armor, I am one-shotting the geckos with the Weathered 10mm pistol. I also find it funny how the "Weathered" version looks shinier and newer than the regular 10mm pistols lying around.

I tired doing Dead Money at Level 32, but the Ghost People have way too many HP at that point and crappy weapons they give you don't scale in damage. Considering doing it as soon as I get Light Step, there's way too many loving camouflaged bear traps to go without it. Getting my legs crippled all the time sucks. Also going to deal with Father Elijah in the most satisfying way, with a shotgun blast to the face, assuming I find a shotgun there. My characters in all games do not negotiate or sympathize with their captors.

Stuff new players might not know:

You can holster your weapon by holding the reload key. This is handy because two-handed weapons slow you down slightly if you have them drawn.

You can turn on your pip-boy light by holding Tab, but keep in mind it makes you easier to spot while sneaking.

You can assign stuff to the number keys (except 2) by going into your inventory, selecting the item and pressing the key. This is mostly handy for weapons, but also works for consumeables like stimpacks.

Some enemies are armored, if you see a shield icon next to their health bar when you shoot it means that your shots are being deflected by the armor, and you need to try something else

There's a lot of third-person sitting that can be done; the Omerta bosses both have offices, and a couch they loiter on in the hallway. The NCR Ambassador has a nice desk. The Great Khans Longhouse has three different chairs at the head table. The BoS Elder has a swanky science-desk. The base commanders at McCarran and Forlorn Hope have lovely military-surplus chairs, but the Ranger CO at Camp Golf has both a crappy office, and a nice balcony seat. Pearl at Nellis appears to have some older furniture, and don't forget McLafferty at the Crimson Caravan. Easy Pete, Miguel's Pawn Shop and Mick & Ralph's all have places to park your butt. Kick Boxcars onto his busted-rear end legs, you need to relax.

Don't forget Joshua Graham's Table of .45s and Dean Domino's Den of Inebriation, too.

I hope this improves your SitDown: Chair Vegas experience!

I played completely through the game with two people so far and I had no idea you could bind weapons and items to hotkeys. That would've made shooting up as soon as each drug fades away a hell of a lot easier, not to mention oh, I don't know, shooting people in the legs and their weapons out of their hands, then whipping out a chainsaw and chasing them down.

God drat it, I've just encountered the most ridiculous drat bug. It happened in the NCRCF specifically: I opened a cell door, but it swung toward me instead of outward, so I hit E to close it again and instead hit a couch. My character froze in place for five seconds, likely while doing the "sitting down" animation that I couldn't see because the door moved me away from the couch, and now he freezes every five steps. Restarting, saving, and loading have not fixed this. What the gently caress why did this even happen this is so stupid.

After drinking some empty glass for a while, I made my way to another seat. After a short fight with an NCR patrol and some dogs, I sat victorious, taking my rightful place in the wasteland hierarchy.

Then, the great khans. I had already killed them long ago because someone wanted me to get to know them. I didn't really want to bother, so I got to know them from about 20 yards away with an assault rifle.

Finally, I stopped at my old pal Benny's for a quick chat and a well-deserved sit.
