All you bros who've used shotguns in the game: which do you consider best? Riot Shotgun? I've been a 45-70 and 308 man for too long...

Also rope kid why no top tier GRA shotguns????

Yeah I was hoping for a unique lever-action shotgun, or at least maybe some higher tier 20ga options, but I suppose shotguns were fairly well represented already compared to some of the other gaps the GRA filled.

At least they have great perk support. Maybe too great - And Stay Back basically means you win every fight unless there's 4+ mobs on you at once.

edit : also, regarding the best shotgun, I didn't think much of Dinner Bell at first but it really grew on me. It's a sniper's shotgun. Hard to beat the raw power of the Riot Shotgun though!

It's really weird how the DLC areas work. You'd think that the more powerful you get the easier they'd be but they scale all the enemies to your enemy, so when you go there as a level 30+ powerhouse all the enemies are bulletsponges.

Check out this let's play of Dead Money, for example. He literally goes in at practically level 1 and all the enemies die incredibly quickly. They wouldn't go down that quickly when I did it :(

I got a GRA ripper just now at level 5. I almost got through the god drat cazadores, but after one of my many deaths they decided to respawn. At that point I toggled god mode and punched them all to death. After that point it was smooth sailing to the Gunrunners booth. I got all my chips the legit way, by stealing everything that wasn't nailed to the floor. I wonder if the Cowboy perk affects rippers? I will need to check the wiki. I don't think something like Rushing Water or Slayer would affect it. Chainsaws and rippers and poo poo own but if I could manually swing them rather than just hold them out they would be a million times better.

I think a cool thing would be Heavy Handed + Elijah's Rambling + Slayer + Rushing Water + Cowboy + Grunt + Blood Nap. Or all that and Gahenna with Pyromaniac. Yep. That is pretty much some unstoppable poo poo right there.

If whatever you're fighting is getting that close to you, you're doing something wrong. Also, since finding .308 is kinda impossible at low levels, I haven't had a real chance to use This Machine. So what's the second best option I can grab that uses .357 (which you get a poo poo ton of in OWB) or even 5.56 ammo? I figure I shouldn't have much problems getting to 11-12 or whatever level snipers enter the merchant tables but having something beefy for those first levels would be awesome.

Looks like the unique cowboy repeater is also in McCarran but you'd have to kill Sterling to get it. :ohdear:

I'm using Lucky. I think a cowboy repeater uses 357 too.

You can just wait til he sleeps in the barracks and sneak attack crit him. That's how I got it. Nobody else woke up.

Yeah I'm running with a repeater right now for general stuff / lobotomites, then the Sonic Emitter + Proton Axe for robots. I'm also finding not having Jury Rigging is seriously cramping on my ability to maintain my good armors repaired at this low level. Had to take off my Riot Gear around level 7 because it had gotten too damaged :( .

Edit: Yeah primm. You have to go back into the casino and be confronted by deserters. then sometime after that the casino opens. But they have like.. a small rear end limit then they kick you. Something like 6k caps?

"Ah," Ratz had said, at last, "the artiste."
For the record, your NCR rep resets when you actually talk to Crocker, not the guy outside the Lucky 38. I know this because I walked in the embassy at 'Sneering Punk' status with every MP in the building calling me an rear end in a top hat and telling me to leave, and then after speaking to him for two minutes they were patting me on the back and I was 'Accepted'. It's not all the rep, just the negative one. Each faction has 2 kinds of rep, positive and negative, it's not just a sliding bar like karma. Kind of nice how it avoids a situation like nuking Megaton and then giving water to a beggar and having everything be honky-dory.
