Okay, I have to know: I read somewhere (Might have been the previous thread) that going off the beaten path from the start you could run into Ghosts that will ruin your day Is this true? I want to know if I'm going to be attacked by Slimer if I decide to take a left than a right.

Confirm/Deny? Before the official release date, From Software devs (using a freaky hybrid monster/player model) with maxed out stats would randomly invade, stalk and murder the players running it early. Player-controlled, of course. It was pretty clever stuff. Naturally a bunch of people got terribly upset by this, because some people are big whiny babies.

I plat Demon's Souls after all. Yes I will boast this I'm proud dammit

It has extra bumpers on the left and right which can be programmed on the controller itself to act as any other button. So you could get one extra button accessible to your right hand by binding the bonus right bumper button to either left bumper, left trigger, or left thumbstrick press.

The whole thing just screams rumor. The original source, Esuteru, shows a screenshot of a character sheet with 99 for all stats and a level of 145. But you don't get to see the character sheet of players that invade you. So it's somebody claiming to be a developer and invading people? But they aren't player controlled they're npcs? And nobody streaming early ever saw hide nor hair of these guys? Also the developers might have been more concerned with fixing all the crippling server bugs the game released with.

Yeah, I tried to get Gamestop to sell early even though they had a huge poster that said 10/4/11 on it. Didn't work. I'd think you would need to go to a mom and pop type store to get it early, rather than a specialist place like the 'Stop. I just preordered it instead. Prolly will turn in Demon's Souls and Deus Ex to help with the cost, since I won't need the former and the latter was a huge disappointment.

Zebrasectomy posted:Just got around to pre-ordering this. Thief looks like one of the more difficult starting classes simply due to daggers having such short range. That said if you can't make it far enough into the game to get a spear or longsword or whatever using your thief starting equipment then you have problems beyond your starting class. If you want a dex focused character and don't care about using magic right away then the thief should be perfectly fine. None of the classes will lock you in to playing certain way like they would in, say, Diablo.

The Moon Monster posted:None of the classes will lock you in to playing certain way like they would in, say, Diablo. This is one of my favorite things about both Demon's and Dark Souls. I can throw a few levels into dex, decide I don't want to use the curved swords and then turn around and pump another stat without having to re-roll and start over. More games need it so you don't so much pick a class, but pick what you start with.

Yeah, if its anything like demons souls, the thief class will be fine to start with. You have the lightest armor in the game and a crap weapon to start with and low health, but you have good speed due to low weight on your gear and naturally high dex makes you a good innate archer or fencer. That and you effectively get 2 gifts because you start with the master key innately. Which if goons are to be believed never breaks and allows you to get the equivalent of the crescent moon falcon in the tutorial area. Me personally, I'm starting as a bandit with the master key most likely. I can't tell from the screenshots though, does the bandit start with leather armor or chainmail?

Back in the old thread I mentioned that there is a gate that is locked from one side (like in Demon's, the ones that allow you to shortcut areas you have already been in) that even though I opened it, for some reason kept being closed when I came at it again after dying. I thought it was a bug, but just now I saw an enemy see I was coming, and run to the other side of the gate and close it to keep me from getting through. This game, man...
