Bouncing towards victory
Ladytron was mentioned a few pages ago, so I guess this is the thread to mention it in:

I saw them in Seattle tonight - well, last night, as it's now almost 4 AM - and they were pretty good. The venue, however... not so much. Dear lord, gently caress showbox at the market, especially if you're not 21 (I'm 18). If you don't have a bar stamp, they won't let you go to what little seating there is, nor will they let out go out and come back in even if you have your ticket on you, and whoever set up the speakers decided MORE BASS IS BETTER NO EXCEPTIONS.

Anyway, to the point: Despite the venue sucking, Ladytron had a pretty good set. Some older stuff (they started out with Soft Power), some newer stuff from Gravity the Seducer, and they closed with Seventeen, and we managed to get an encore with White Elephant and Destroy Everything You Touch. The music let me get past the rear end in a top hat staff and my friend and I had a great time.

Any other goons go?

There is something to be said for having to find it for yourself.

edit: This should not be misconstrued as advocacy for that boring fucker James Blake's diatribe.

I think his point wasn't that having more people is necessarily better. It just increases the chances that one of the kids that got into the music because of Skrillex or whoever might go on to create something great as a result.

In that case it's probably exactly things like that James Blake interview that will turn Skrillex fans onto the fact that there's other stuff out there.

Probably. But I also think James Blake is overestimating his "undergroundness". His poo poo's on Entourage for gods sakes.

Ultra early bird tickets sold out in less than half an hour - they're geniuses who know how to make a shitload of money. There is no venue, and no lineup; they probably put fewer than 1,000 "early bird" tickets on sale to bait people into paying the nearly $300 for the "regular" tickets.

I will be on a boat with Get Physical, or at Sunday School for Degenerates, or ...

Not sure if this is the right thread (haven't read through every post) but I'd like to toss out a recommendation if not already mentioned.

I have Zune pass and Spotify and by far Spotify has more selection...I have to say Mux Mool is great. SFW Porn, Stay Calm, Flying Dreams, Morning Strut, Valley Girls, Jen and Soda are all great tracks.

Love me some Kaskade and Deadmau5 as well.

My electronic taste started when I found SomaFM in 2000. I remember when they went offline due to streaming laws and had a secret server you had to find to listen. All uphill from there. Good stuff.

There are some tracks that are often overlooked in his catalog that I think are really great.

Untold - Stop What You're Doing (James Blake Remix) - I personally still think this track is fire.

Love What Happened Here
Trim - Confidence Boost (Harmonimix)

Yeah, for a lot of people he is too "chinstrokey" - but I to a large extent that's kinda what he is going for. He grew up not listening to dance music, but to singer/songwriters and soul singers. Then he went with his homies to DMZ, heard Mala's Haunted and that changed his life - so, he, more so than a lot of the other guys, does have something valid to say. Regardless of what you think about his music now, or what he does now, you can't deny how much of a tune that his Untold remix is. It's still heavy.

What do you guys think of the new Mode album? I'm a little underwhelmed but I'm sure it will grow on me. Pretentious Friends and Humanized are fun little numbers, but I think the standouts for me on first listen are War Cry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMynDU8o9GI and Berlin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gc19XZiV6c4&feature=related
