Acid is out and curse (the new status effect) hasn't been shown to be able to be used by players yet. (Maybe it can nobody knows for sure I think) However there are now more ways to inflict the previous status types from the previous game, so go hogwild with that!

As far as the drawing for the statues is concerned, someone posted the rules earlier in the thread http://www.preparetodie.com/official_rules_Dark_Souls.pdf It looks like its just a random drawing from all the people who entered on facebook according to #3 and #5 in the rules.

If it's not as R1 spammable, I'm ok with that. I just love halbreds/pikes and whatnot.

I called Gamestop asking about the Dark Souls guide, and they told me they're only offering to sell them to people who get the CE version of the game, at $20 a pop. They won't sell the guides separately. Weird.

Right so the Tomb of Giants... it's pitch dark, I'm on a cliff edge or thin platforms, there are giant skeletons I can barely see and once I'm away from them there are two black phantom style enemies, who have magic and can heal (ohh yeah, it's still pitch dark)... I think I'll leave this area until nearer the end. Should have went for Sen's Fortress tonight instead of this nonsense. I always though people overstated the difficulty of Demon's Souls by quite a bit. This is not the case with Dark Souls. They've really pushed things right to the limit here, and in a few cases, they've pushed it straight over the edge. I can only assume things get worse too... This game is awesome. It's absolutely massive.. My one complaint is (minor spoilers about location names).. There's no easy way to get from "far" destinations back to the shrine. For example, it's absolutely horrible to travel from Blightown back to the Shrine.. Does anyone know if there's a quicker way to get around when you're that "deep".

I must have screwed up when I ordered through Amazon.com somehow. Even with Prime (via the free one-month trial), I couldn't order release day shipping - I had free 2 day shipping, or 1 day shipping (presumably, at additional cost). I thought Prime guaranteed release day shipping?

I have two questions that may or may not have been answered, but if someone who has already played it can answer, that would be great. I've never played the series so I'm not sure if I have all this information correct. 1)Does the co-op 'trick' work in Dark Souls? Doesn't matter if it's laborious, just want to know if it is possible to play through the game with a buddy. 2)Does voice chat work in-game? I know private doesn't, just wanting to know if we will be able to communicate in any way while playing. (if we can play together)

Speaking of amazon and whatnot, is there any in-game benefit to buying the CE as opposed to the normal one i.e. items/skins/weapons like most games do these days? I don't really care about soundtracks or art-books and I have no intention of using a strategy guide.

I wonder if From is going to do any holiday type fuckery like they did with Demon's Souls and adjusting the global world tendencies, like how they put everyone to pure black on halloween. I know Dark Souls doesn't have world tendency so who knows what they could do though.
