So given the further pictures of Enderland, are we now assuming that it's distinct from the Sky Dimension and Notch might just be going all-out with alternate dimensions? I mean, all the pictures of it just show long flat green plains studded with dark towers.

There are only around three pictures of "The Ender" and it's impossible to discern landscape features through them. The other pictures of the dragon were taken in the normal dimension, notch just spawns it there to do quick tests. I'd say it's still fairly likely that the sky dimension morphed into the enderman dimension.

What are the odds that notch will be able to resist adding ANY new features at all after the feature freeze? I'm personally expecting a last minute day-before-minecon addition of some totally broken new mob or something.

It's a feature freeze until after release. They want to work on polishing it up until Minecon, when Minecraft officially releases.

Who knows if they will, a lot of poo poo has changed.

Seeing as he hasn't mentioned it in ages and the fact that he said that after a vacation following Minecon he was going to work on the next "content patch" instead of calling it DLC, I have a feeling Notch will not be going that route, especially since he seems to be enamored with the old way of game development. Unless the patch completely altered the game on a whole new level instead of adding a new mob or more potions, there is no way in hell I would pay for anything and I could see an issue with the mod community just making "similar yet distinctly different" mods mimicking DLC.

I agree with you if we're just talking about pig armor DLC or whatever, but I would happily pay for an official set of tools for making adventure maps. Like something that would let you put in proper NPCs, trigger events, etc.

So I've met my goal of never being food insecure in Minecraft. Not only am I growing a ton of wheat, I've broken into the chicken business. I started off with the two that spawned from some eggs I collected, and after fencing them in I started spawning more and more. By putting dirt around the outside of the fence I was able to trap three sheep and 4 pigs in short order, followed by 2 cows. My intentions were to breed them when 1.9 got an official release, but for now they will just enjoy the noise of about 150 chickens I have in the pen after the mass culling last night. That number wasn't supposed to be so high, but I got tired of throwing the eggs by hand and then killing all but the first chicken to spawn. To cut down on time I hooked up a despinser, put a bunch of pressure plates in the farm area and let the chickens launch eggs by moving around. So all I had to do was collect the eggs, kill maybe two chickens per set of 16 and move along. Of course the numbers play out differently than that, and if you don't control the population per load of eggs in the dispenser you get a lot of chickens To make a long story short I wore out most of a diamond sword and all of an iron sword killing chickens between games of Call Of Duty last night so I could collect eggs without being pushed around by what was about 300 chickens.

That actually looks loving amazing, and there should be a difficult to craft item (diamond block altar) that can basically bait one of them to spawn in the main world.

Those animations are quite fantastic and unlike anything I'd imagine seeing in Minecraft. As far as I can deduce, Endersand must be "immune" to the dragon. That, or the Ender will resemble a swiss cheese.

Well seeing as what we've seen of the Ender, it's a bunch of floating islands in a blank void. So I imagine the Ender Dragon destroys blocks and the Endermen rebuild the world in a constant cycle of shifting form
