This method of getting all the gold from Dead Money worked for me on my first try: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTMbSQwsaV4 I guess you have to have pretty high sneak though.

FuhrerHat posted:This method of getting all the gold from Dead Money worked for me on my first try: There are two problems with that: More often than not, Elijah will spot you (crouching or no) when you're walking to the exit. As soon as he does, the forcefields fly up and you're screwed. The second is that the door the person takes in this video often gets forcefielded before you can get close to it, regardless of whether or not Elijah sees you. It also has nothing to do with sneak, as I attempted the same technique in that video with 100 sneak and a stealth-boy and I still got hammered. It seems like sneaking past Elijah with the bars is more the exception than the rule.

Yeah the forcefields were always up for me whenever I played, I didn't even realize there was a window of time when they were down.

As soon as you step on the first step leading out of the room where Elijah comes in the forcefield goes up.

Both times I have beaten DM, after Elijah is dead the force fields have stayed up and sealed me in. After multiple reloads and attempts, it just seemed to be a bug and I had to noclip my way through them. Made taking the gold much easier, since I already had to console just to live. The bars are more a trophy though, they are sitting scattered on the table in Lombard, as they are a bitch to try and stack.

Kharmakazy posted:If I recall there is a longer alternate path without barriers... ymmv Yeah if I was supposed to run back through all the vault to escape they didn't do a very good job communicating that, either in game or when I looked it up on the wiki later. I think they even listed a bug that might have aided my misunderstanding quote:Sometimes after you kill Elijah the force fields will remain up, trapping the Courier in the vault until the Explosive collar detonates.

On the other hand, you do only meet him very briefly, and are likely to spend more time listening to, say, Hsu or Kimball, who have unique voice actors iirc (well you don't spend much time with Kimball but you get the idea). The dude who does Oliver supposedly does a whole mess of other NCR characters, but his Vault page doesn't even list Oliver, so has there been a mixup there?

Is there a good high resolution map for this game with stuff marked, or maybe an interactive map? The one on the wiki would be pretty good if it was a tad bigger, or if the high res version had mouseover labels. Just wondering if there's anything better out there. So is there like a super quick way to get through Dead Money? I don't really have a convenient save from before I went in for some stupid reason, and unless things really look up after gather the other collars, I don't really think this is my cup of tea in terms of DLC. I just don't really enjoy the whole survival/horror aspect at all.

The end gets kind of finicky if you skip parts of it, but you can just walk to the exit gate console it either unlock or activate if memory serves. Also, movetoqt will move you right to your current quest objective 90% of the time.

Nah, he just did like, the first quest. It goes downhill from there man. I'm in the camp that didn't like it and the hotel made me want just murder babies. Easy mode? Console TGM that way your collar exploding does nothing. Unless you just have to see the rest of the story and get some gold bars just console out of there.

HH is open area tribal, OWB is open area funny sci-fi, LR is current apocalyptic with great environments, and GRA is pay THOUSANDS OF CAPS FOR GUNS FOR SOME REASON, also the are pretty sweet guns. You can leave LR any time you want, but the rest you have to finish first.

House mentions that Oliver's plan this time is to pretty much throwing forces at the Legion until they win, undermining Hanlon's tactical ingenuity. Hanlon lured the hyper-aggressive first Legate into Boulder City, picking off command personal with snipers as they retreated back into the laid trap there. Hanlon didn't have a plan to actually take the initiative and completely defeat the Legion, just punish them for over-extending and then retake Hoover. So Oliver's plan is just as good as any the NCR has. That is, waiting for the Legion to make another move and counter-attack.

Recently fired up New Vegas again and WTF Ratslayer? I remember being terrified of the Quarry Junction with gazillion Deathclaws, strolled by and cleaned to whole place in a jiffy @ level 15. I didn't do anything clever or try to stay up in the cliffs or anything, just kept low, picked a target and went *tsup* *tsup* *tsup* aiming a shot or two at the legs while at it. When something got really close up, VATS with That Gun and empty the clip at it's head until it turns Piņata but I hardly needed a sidearm. To my surprise most of the targets just keeled over long before they were in range to charge. I never figured out the critical multiplier was THAT powerful even against armored critters. Dropping the towering Mother Deathclaw with a sniperified/glorified semi-auto low power rifle designed to kill rodents felt a little wrong.

So PCGamer's UK review of Lonesome Road made me laugh. No online copy yet, so I can't link it, but while I can understand the complaints about linearity there was one snippet that was just....yeah:quote:'While [Ulysses] thinks he's an erudite philosopher, he comes across as a pretentious, jabbering bore, obsessed with something that you as the player never actually did, trying to lay down a guilt trip that just feels hollow.' I think I understand why Dead Money's theme was smashed into the player's face.
